I cycle 90 minutes each day. Not because I want to, but because I have to. And oh, how I love it. When it rains, of course, I get soaked. But when the sun shines it's pure joy to cycle. It's not only me who cycles. It's very common to go to school by bike in our country, everyone does it. Some people have to cycle for 5 minutes, others for an hour. It doesn't matter, because cycling is a very healthy thing to do. Not only that: it is also better for the environment. Because if all those people would go by car, well, that'd be a lot more CO2.

^ That's the kind of bike I have. A lot of people have more than one bike. For instance: one to use in the place you live, and an old, cheap one at a train station in the city you study.

Cyclists have their own roads, so it's really safe to cycle in our country. It also means that you can get practically anywhere by bike. It only will take a lot time.

Of course bikes get stolen from time to time. In the big cities it happens a lot, but where I live there isn't much bike theft. Also, parking lots for cars take a lot of space. While bikes don't. That's another advantage of bikes.

Of course, a lot of people go by car too. Sometimes the distance just is too much. But I think bikes are the most important transport in our society. That's why I'm really interested in hearing about how that is in other countries.

So tell me: Do you have a bike? Do you cycle a lot? Are you able to cycle to school? Is cycling a common thing to do in your country? Etc.

I'd like to hear from you!

That's exactly the kind of spammy posts I mean. Please add something to this thread or don't post. You could explain why you like cycling, how often you cycle and how common it is to cycle in your country. Do you cycle for fun or to get somewhere?

Thank you.

cycling through traffic always scared me :/
buy a motorbike instead, its a lot more fun, though you have to expect a few crashes.
My bike currently has bent fork and the fairings are all shot

When I was in Europe the bycicle was my other feet, I want to school, friend's house, city center, simple everywhere with a bike, no matter if it was 50 km away!
Now that I'm in Middle-East it's extremily difficult to find some good places to cycle, especially when it's 50 degrees C outside. But that didn't stop me!!
I style have the bycicle I had in France and I ride it hear sometimes to relax. When I get back to Europe I'm willing to do the Santiago Compostel's Way cycling during the summer! I'm looking forward to that moment!

Haha, thank you. Because bikes are so important here, they sell really cool and comfortable bikes. For instance, when you turn on the front light on your bike it makes cycling heavier. Because the dynamo is on the wheel itself. But my dynamo is in the center of the wheel, so I don't feel a thing. I don't know what kind of bikes they sell in other countries. I'd really like to know that, it interests me.

This morning someone cycling in front of me had this kind of bike:

It looks really comfortable, but it might not be very safe. It looks so weird.

I still have my good old mauntain bike. It served me well over the last 13 years and after some repairs here and there it always goes again. Now I don't drive that often with it and it is usually just a thing to get me from A to point B fast, but on some rare days I really enjoy the ride.^^
