I love listening to classical music, it gives me a piece of mind when I'm stressed out (which is most of the time). I like Georges Bizet's Carmen (instrumental versions especially Habanera), Pachelbel's Canon in D, Rossini's William Tell Overture, Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto in E Minor- Op. 64, Schubert's Ave Maria and a lot of others.

Moonlight sonata has been my favourite piece of music since forever. I need classical music when i am doing things. if there are words in songs then i sing and get distracted.

I hope you're not one of those people who just like the 1st movement of Quasi Una Fantasia. The 3rd movement is much better. A bitch to play though...grrr. ^^

Whilst I like the pieces of classical music that are famous I hate the fact that they are overplayed, often by people who should not be playing it or have no idea how to interpret the music i.e. Fur Elise, Pachelbel's Canon in D (just how many versions of this song are there??)
I've spoke to more than one person who played Canon in D without realising what a Canon is.
Overplaying ruins the piece!

I'm not saying I'm some expert classical critic that knows everything and anything about it but once you've heard it being performed quite a number of times you start to notice differences in how they are performed.

Anyway....mini rant over..^^
Continue discussing what pieces you like. =D

(bbbbb-bump!)

Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana
Kanon (und Gigue in D-Dur für drei Violinen und Basso Continuo) long name is loooong.
Bach’s Air (BWV 1068)
Beethoven’s 9th Symphony (not just the 4th movement .. though it’s my favourite part)
Handel’s Messiah
And anything with words in Latin, if a Gregorian Monk is chanting then I’m listeneing (does that count as classical?)

OK so those are a little over used…

try listening to Depapepe - its an acoustic male duo. its not classical thou but Depapepe is a good band if you are looking for comtempory instrumental songs. Their songs have light, calming melodies. They tend to stick only to their two acoustic guitars, so there are times when it feels a bit repetitive.

now if you really want asian classic instrumental songs try 12 girls band
12 girls band is a music group with thirteen women artists, always appearing as twelve on stage, playing traditional Chinese instruments to play both traditional Chinese and Western songs.

They did a classical remake of Clocks by Cold play (which was so WICKED!)
and Tokyo Love Story by Utada Hikaru.

I listen to a lot of classical music. It calms you down and makes you think; I like to listen to a song over and over and each time i listen to it i focus on a different instrument in the song. (Rachmaninoff piano concerto 2 in d minor) Is GREAT!!!. 12 Girls Band has some nice music. Violin, piano, and cello are my favorite instruments.

Usually when I'm depress, I listen to gregorian chant, beethoven's pieces, and instrumental music. it's the best way for me to get over problems and uncertainties in life.
