I'm a big fan of Gintama. As far as this is concerned, if this anime was ever on the slate to be axed, i'd offer up Naruto in a heartbeat... Gintama fillers are so much better than Naruto's fillers any day and the episodes are 2x more likely to be enjoyable than naruto episodes... IMHO

1. It's fun to watch and yes, good comedy anime are rare these days
2. It's very VERY random (1 moment there's a fight scene, the next will be something like using sandpaper as toilet paper  )
3. It has a lot of anime or game references (ex. Evangelion, Gundam, D. Grayman, Bleach, One Piece, Dragon Quest, etc. )
4. Even fillers are awesome
5. For me Gin > Naruto anytime |

But you know, I too ditched it the first time and then when I was super- like really bored one summer I cranked it out and got through the first 17 episodes.... and now I am hooked :P. It really is awesome and incredibly funny - and not all random. There are quite a few archs that are some of the best mini-plot episodes I have ever seen. And now when I go back to ep. 1... I cannot stop laughing. Skip a few episodes if you must as long as you get back to them later.... you reeeaaallly won't regret it <3 Gintama |

Its really plain and simple. Gintama is the BEST comedy anime out there. Seriously there is no comedy anime thats funnier than this.
Ok now that we know its the best comedy, lets look at how it can change the genre of itself at any given time! When it goes turns into an action anime, its just completely badass, when it turns into a drama, its quite sad, and then next thing you know, it turns back into a comedy in a flash! If that is not a great example of being EPIC, then I dont know what is

Hmmmm I think its either because its Thee best anime ever and its so freaking hilarious anddddddddddd I can watch it with my Bf and we dont have to start from the first episode to watch it SWEEET !!!!!
