I believe that's called "jealousy". And no, a mature guy who actually keeps his cool isn't going to jump in front of a guy walking towards his girlfriend, like a defense men on a football team.
No, she isn't your property, and if you have a singe of self-esteem and trust, you'll watch her deal with the guy. If she likes you back and has a thread of integrity, she'll say "I already have a boyfriend" without your intervention.
No. Overprotective boyfriends are a sign of insecurity at it's finest. Now if random guys are touching your girlfriend (but really, this could easily apply to any women in your life. A girl that is a friend to your mom) and she resists either verbally or physically, that's a entirely different ballgame.

What kind of protective are you talking about here?
Jealousy overprotective? In this scenario, the boyfriend gets suspicious or annoyed when their girlfriends spend too much time with other guys. To answer you question, just think of yourself. If you had a boyfriend that spends too much time with another girl claiming her to be his "friend", wouldn't you get the bit least annoyed or jealous? Of course there's a fine line between healthy jealousy and being completely dominating and controlling.
Protective of harm? Again, not hard to explain. People don't want anything bad to happen to their loved ones even if it's considered "getting in the way". Again, this can get unhealthy as well. Example, if my girlfriend wanted to travel to say... an undeveloped part of Africa for an year for a special program, I wouldn't be happy to hear this news because this would mean that she would be split from me for a very long time and she would be more prone to danger.

Well your their special person. Why would they want someone else take you away. In my experiences girls tend to be more over protective then guys. I wish my boyfriend was more over protective of me. I mean honestly, hes lucky I'm a honest person. I love the fact he trusts me, but it would seem like he cares more about what I do if he was over protective. Sometimes I think that when guys are not protective they don't give a shit about the girl they're with or are afraid of commitments. |
