This thread should be belong in the Poll section.

Back to topic,

I'd say this is great start, but its like a double edged sword. It can either revolutionize how Anime is stream in the Internet or it can be the downfall of Crunchyroll.

We'll know if the decision was right or not once a couple of months has been passed.

The move crunchyroll is making is a good one. But I'm afraid everyone's going to leave to other sites because they really aren't licensing that many titles that people actually watch. A few powerhouse shows like Naruto, Shugo Chara, and Skip Beat won't be enough for me or many other people to actually cough up money for a subscription.

I really hope they stay afloat long enough to amass some shows that people actually have heard of. Otherwise they'll be making the same mistake that Hulu is making by licensing all these defunct animes. (exception: naruto)

Yea I agree. It's not enough for me to cough up money for a subscription. But I think it's a little bit of both.
I think with the newer shows, if Crunchy gets permission to show it, most fansubbing for those shows may very well stop. I know the subber, I usually watch for Skip Beat episodes has put up a notice on the last episode that she will stop subbing further episodes because Crunchy is posting the subs.

In a few years, if crunchy gets a hold of more shows, it could be the beginning of a whole new experience when it comes to watching recent anime episodes. I know for me, the only reason I watch fansubs is because there is no other option if I want to watch the show. Obviously, if they had more of the shows I watch, then I'd certainly consider paying for it, right now all they have is Skip Beat and I'm not going to pay that much money to watch one series.

But I'm not leaving crunchy. I'll certainly continue to keep an eye on what they continue to license and we'll see from there whether I decide or not if it's worth it to pay. Right now, I don't really know alot of the anime they're offering as part of the membership deal.

It's an ending for many viewers, but the beginning for many others. I don't really think it's either; crunchyroll is revolutionary in the way that it has tried to make deals -- and has succeeded in doing so -- with the owners of various anime series so that those anime series could be uploaded here. Those in North America can now, legally, watch a lot of anime. It's just the beginning for them.

But unless the series will be shown in Asia... I think it'll be the ending because there are quite a lot of viewers in Asia (or even Europe?) that are on this site as well. They'll all go to different sites because they can no longer watch anime on crunchy. Additionally, it may be the end since the majority of watchers on here aren't that willing to pay for a subscription so that they can legally watch anime that is available elsewhere. =\

I guess my answer is that it's both the end and the beginning of crunchyroll.

You can't really determine whether or not it's CR's end or new beginning because it was just put into act today. But if you were to look at how the populace of Crunchyroll is reacting to this change right now, I'd say this is definitely a bad way to start a new beginning.

If they were to atleast inform the users that they would start removing content beforehand, I think all this rage that the users are giving off would've been less hadn't they just pulled the trigger and done it.

If I had to vote, i'd put my vote in with Maou's and say "none of the above", simply because their isn't enough information to make an accurate assumption at the direction CR heading into.

I think it's the end but there is a potential for a rebirth; if they can get on some good animes I think it can even surpass it's former self.

Ummm...it looks like there are videos to me. Am I missing something?

If CR really did make a deal--well, I don't really care as well as I get to watch what I want. If I can't, I WILL find it else where. Not finding an anime hasn't been a problem for me so far...muhahahaha!

Kaaaaaaay, nevermind. I just logged in a minute or two ago, and NOW I see that the only vids that are up are the ones that were uploaded within the past 24hrs...so that sucks. D< But what I said still stands, as long as I can watch I'll be happy. Though, I dunno, I can see a lot of ppl leaving because of this. It's a lot easier to just go find some animes on unofficial streaming site by using google...

I voted 'beginning' for CR...
if fly voters are allowed I'll vote for 'end' too...
The only thing constant is change.
I have nothing to say, really...I just voted..

Only new animes are the ones I need to find...
not the old ones, cause I do spend a lot of money buying the cds

If CR got permission from the big companies and they start paid viewing...
would it be possible if other free web sites starts doing what CR did?
I got curious..

I didn't put in midpoint, both and neither because, when pressed with two absolute choices that are around equal, people will choose the one that their sub-conscience wants. It's like how being forced to do something makes one know that they want to do something else.

they do think, and you have no right to call em dumbasses, noobs, and other vulgar names you just typed in. ^_^ it's not just about money, others do have money, they uses their brains...that's why complaining per se 'pay viewing' is unnecessary move...bleh
