とても興味深いです。

Google翻訳は、実際の知識で下手な言い訳です。

お前何言ってんの?
この人の日本語は君のより正しいよ。
まー、Google翻訳使ってるかどうかは知らないけど

Shouldn't use omae in place of "you" when you don't know the speaker. It's an insult.

Anyway, I think google translate gets abused, especially on anime sites.

And? o.0 Maybe it was intentional.

Tbh, I don't see very many people that type in Japanese at all, never mind use google translate.
While it's a little embarrassing if they're claiming to be fluent, other wise, I think it's perfectly fine o.0
Just shows their love(?) of the language.

Fluency, the ultimate lie. I for one will never claim this since I know I didn't learn anything in a classroom. My sister is fluent in two languages no less and both involved having a little piece of paper from a college stating as much. Otherwise there's proficiency tests. One or the other, but having neither means they're not fluent.

The google translate isn't as abused on THIS site as much as I've seen it on others, but abused nonetheless.

The other absurd notion relating to this very topic is loving Japan and the culture because they watch anime.

I don't really care if someone claims fluency. That's their problem. It will eventually do them more harm than good by making that claim.

Yes, there are groups that can certify your level of fluency, but that doesn't mean you aren't fluent without the certificate. It only means your fluency hasn't been rated.

It isn't necessarily absurd. You can view anime and manga as stepping stones. If anime or manga gets someone interested enough in Japan that they start learning about the *real* culture, then I call that a win.

Like I said, it isn't a term I'd ever use for myself and I'm not holding anyone to a standard. I'm just making a statement about the use of the term fluent. But I agree, it's their own hole to crawl out of.

To me liking Japan because of anime is like saying you like cars because of the passenger side seat belt. It's a minor part of a larger entity.

In my opinion, it is different and interesting. I especially favor the school girl outfits... makes me so hot and horny when I flaunt about in them.

What really attracts me to Japanese culture is that most Japanese speak in a positive voice. Also, mainly everything there is ADORABLE
Lastly, I love the way they dress. Japanese street style x) and don't forget the entertainment.

people told me I'm strange for customizing my own things like my car, cell phone, clothes, etc. Then over 10 years ago I discovered Japan is as creative as me, so I got a job with one of the biggest Japanese online retailers :-)

I'v always been at ease knowing that Japan has been there having a different culture when im ready i can leave America and go there having a COMPLETELY knew world waiting for me. Since i was young iv decided im going to move there and not turned from it since, Im 21 and ready to go soon.
The people are much more civilized and friendly in Japan for the most part no offence to any Americans.
the culture I love
The Technology
The feeling of having a fresh start is always fun also.
