Hm? Well, to put it simply;
It's different.
It's different from most of the other cultures out there, and that somehow gives me a sense of freedom..especially since I can relate to their lifestyle, beliefs and traditions ^^ And I also love how they are usually humble and peaceful, aswell as admire them for their patriotism and the way they try to take care of their own country, nation, culture and traditions, rather than bashing them and picking up the 'western style' =) Because historically they were mostly isolated from the rest of the world, I get the feeling of another world, fascinating, like I said, simply different o3o
But again, of course there are drawbacks aswell xP Where aren't there, though? n__n I personally still think Japanese culture remains beautiful and fascinating as a whole<3 That's how I chose to view things, and I'm really glad I did, because, despite how exageratted it may sound, Japan, with all it has to offer and the impact it has on some of today's youth, changed my life.

I don't know, it seems to me that somehow we, westerns, have begun to lose sight of the small things that make life beautiful, things which the Japanese still cherish, a simple example being 'Hanami matsuri' - 'flower viewing festival', through which they associate the sakura flowers [cherry flowers] with life, how it's so beautiful and delicate, but passes so fast..And the festival is just about hanging around with your friends, watching the sakura and contemplating on life =) Isn't that beautiful? x3 Well, at least I know it's them from which I've learned to see and appreciate all the small things that make life beautiful again ^^

1) They have a unique culture which has been carefully preserved since the beginning of their existence.
2) Their culture is vast (ranging from arts to poetry)
3) There is JE
4) There is JPOP
5) There are lots of ANIME's and MANGA's...

Personally, I love sushi and I admit that they do offer some neat nuances within their culture aside from "mainstream" asian characteristics.

nice. i thought i was the only one that thinks that. The neat nuances that is.. Not the sushi part. lol

However, they fucked the chinese hard as shit, killed more chinese civilians than hitler did the jews in the holocaust.
So for the japs that didn't believe in the war or the chink genocide, I applaud ur society. But for those who took part and whatever fcked up beliefs in their culture that initiated it, kill yourselves asap, your fckin worthless.

I wholeheartedly agree on this. war crimes are wrong. where is the love. lol

But err.. on this note though. If i was a japanese civilian on that world war 2 era, i wouldn't know what is going on with the war and shit. The majority of people don't understand politics. If the government brainwashes you with propaganda and make it a crime for you to not enlist to go to war.. Then you'll probably have to go to that same war.

In essence, my point is that... you just gotta separate the government and the people. The government's action doesn't necessarily represent the people's wish. (Like America and the unpopularity of the Iraq invasion even among their own people). Somebody says it like... It's true we were born with a beautiful mind, born and raised in this beautiful world. But wrong people pushes the button.

Not sure how it directly relates to the topic. But yeah. I felt that it did somehow. haha

Okay one thing about Japanese culture is that it is an honor to be in the army in Japan.

I like Japanese history and the way their culture was before modernization. It has such a beautiful essence to life..the beliefs, the land, customs. Its something that I've always been attracted to since I learned about it, and there's always the fool who bashes it for all the wars..yeah..as if japan was really the only place that had wars..anyway..if you look at any culture there's always a desire to learn about the ways other people live. I always want to envelop myself in it..to feel what its like..i like many cultures but Japanese is one that i honestly would want to live in..before modernization i mean, anything after they modernized changed it for the worse i think..but..it was the best choice..they had to modernize and have a chance of surviving or stay the way they had been for so long and be conquered by one of the selfish power-hungry forces that was already modernized. Sadly it meant they had to leave the way of life that had been one of the best in my opinion..

Well Japan was smart to modernize if not they would have been taken over like China but as they do keep the traditional way of life too.
