Well I think the point some people are trying to make is that if CR is offering exclusivity to people who have paid accounts should the quality of the work be a little better especially if its from the license holders. There are a lot of small fan subbers that pull of decent subbing. Even if they don't get the translations flawlessly and have the occasional typo you can atleast get what they are saying. Some of the episodes I saw (once again) like the Zaion eps and the first two Chrono Crusades it was timing issues. Where dialogue was overlapping, or whole spoken sentences where not being subbed. Or a sub would come up and like be gone before it could be read.

So far those where the only ones I saw. I haven't had time to check out any of the new releases. I guess like with everything else the subs will get better the more they do. :] atleast I hope so

Congraulation! you engrish get! this is what happens when japanese anime companies subtitle their products for us. Those companies are better at drawing, not translating or timing phrases. Thats why products are liscensed. they take care of that so we get and awesome anime. we will have to get used to these things, Also us as fans we have become too overdemanding!

Then why are the subs just fine on Naruto Shippuuden and many of the other animes that are being uploaded?
Could it be that some incompetent ingrates managed to paid by gonzo to do something that they suck at or just don't care enough about to do a good job?

I've seen Gonzo do a better job with their subs before (they been uploading their videos here for a while, now).
I'm sure this problem will be fixed, soon, if we can get word back to the right people. Hopefully, the subbers responsible will all lose their jobs and be blacklisted in the Japanese anime industry xDDD

I keep saying that it looks like it's an issue with some of Gonzo's staffers. Maybe, I'm wrong.
But, if I'm right, us Premium Members need only have shinji and his team assure us that the matter will be dealt with, swiftly.

Also, I've seen the Zaion and Chrono crappy subs, but other anime that I'm looking at are just fine.

I signed up to respond to this post so I hope someone with actual authority (like the site admin and the copyright holders) takes this seriously.

I'm 34 with a job with decent pay. I love anime and although I prefer seinen related materials I do watch Naruto. In short, I'm the kind of person you're looking for when an anime company is trying to sell their product (someone with money and a willingness to pay for it -- to date I've only bought manga by Viz and Darkhorse and miscelleneous anime titles through Geneon and Tokyopop since they're the only companies that have met my quality criteria -- the rest I collect fansubs of).

Being a fan of something does not mean a willingness to simply fork over money to people that don't want to give me what I want. I am not some mouse hitting the feeder bar no matter how much it costs me -- I expect quality. This doesn't just mean picture and sound quality but also subbing quality. Many fansubber groups have done top notch quality for free for many years across many titles. Although I'm not surprised that the subbing quality being submitted by the proper copyright holder is poor I am somewhat disappointed. (And I also want to point out that I'm not singling out japanese media companies as I've mostly been upset with U.S. companies that flip manga/anime titles for a quick buck and slap on equally horrible dubs.)

As someone that invests for a living I can appreciate the company's desire to maintain margin. However, an easy and cheap way to maintain quality would have simply been to hire some of the fansubbing groups that already do it for free (and do a good job of it) such as Dattebayo (no I don't work for them or have any association with them other than d/l'ing their subs).

I've read many of the assertions in this thread and they're all pretty much excuses. Dattebayo produces a quality sub in a 24hr turnaround from the time it airs in Japan. If the companies involved simply aren't capable of this then please let me direct them to the dattebayo website of the same name (www.dattebayo.com) so they can get in touch with them. Unlike many subbing groups they've agreed to stop their subbing of Naruto since this offer was announced so I know they'd have to start it up again (this time hopefully for some pay).

Offering crap cheaply will not open the wallets of fans even if it's legal crap. These companies need to do some serious soul searching to answer why they think they can expect payment when their free counterparts offer a superior quality product.

We're fans.
We want to pay to support our favourites.
Don't sell us crap.

Peace Maker subs are off too.

Gintama I don't get...why not leave all the well done fansubs up and fill in the blanks wth the new "pro" subs. After everything is caught up, you could always go back and replace them one at a time. I miss the cultural references too.

I may end up paying here to support the industry and watch a fan sub elsewhere. Hopefully it will get better.

ugh... I don't think posting it in here will do any good, you have to message these kind of post to people like Shinji/other higher up in order for them to hear your complaint.

Its strategy is good though. I'm also hoping a plan like this might actually work out.

Fair enough guys. I guess the corporate execs can keep blaming pirates for their losses instead of incompetence.

That why I said "other higher ups". Shinji does reply to your message as long its an real problem or suggestion (I should know since I use to message him a lot and he replied back to every post I made).

The only problem right now is that replying to him now will be a problem because of the new rules set in CR hundreds upon hundreds of ungrateful people are spamming hate post/message to him (its funny since he was not the one who decided the new rules of CR and he's also not the owner of CR...)

If what you say is true why don't you message him and ask him about how long it will take till we get better subs or when quality of it will improve i'm sure he'll reply since you said he always replied to all your post. This will help us at least get a satisfyin ganswer as we wait for better subs like you said. True but since he recognizes you i'm sure if you continually to post on his guestbook he'll reply to your question and ignore the spams since your is an actual good question.

Which is why I said replying to him right now is really hard thanks to hate post/message spammed by people, but I'll try (I'll copy and paste Blacksoth suggestions). If he doesn't respond, then I am sorry.

Just to be clear to anyone reading this. This isn't about hate mail (although I can surely appreciate the anger), it's about trying to get the anime production companies to actually listen to their fans. It was clear from day one what the problem was (quality for purchase) but it's either been ignored or sidelined for other considerations. My understanding was this new business model was an attempt to connect with fans by trying to construct a pay model that addressed their concerns.

If so, they've failed miserably and proven they're not really listening.
