Before anything else, I would like to say that the scope of this thread are monotheistic religions only, namely Christianity and Islam. Polytheism and occult religions are not supported by this thread.

Edited: Note: If your posts are quoted here, it was not meant to attack you. I just added it here to clarify it with other people also

Common misconceptions from those geniuses

1. Religious people obeys their religion blindly.
To those geniuses: If you are not one and a half stupid, you should know that REAL religious people study their religion, from the Bible to history books, to translations and applications of words during the past. Other people should also know that before a person accepts his/her faith, he/she has full knowledge of what's he/she is getting to. About children dictating their religion, the child may following blindly because of innocence but as they mature, so is their wisdom. That's why we have CONVERTS.

2. God has no scientific basis. Religious people are stupid to put their faith on such thing.
To those geniuses: How many dictionary should you read to know the definition of faith? Also, there are things that are abstract. Not all are empirical.

Edited

More misconceptions

3. If religious people can't explain it, then it must be god.
To those geniuses: What if we can't explain a mathematical equation? What if religious people can't explain how the nervous system and the muscle system works together?

Can't religious people be ordinary people who doesn't know something without saying, " Because god made it so."? You stereotyping geniuses. For once, use your heads.

If religious people can't explain science, they just don't know. If they do, they must be in awe, marveling how complex things (like the human body) works.

Religious people usually (i think its the only time) use " It must be God's will" when they tend to exert their effort yet fate wasn't fair. Example, a guy studied so hard for a college exam in Harvard but failed while the other guy just slacked but passed the college exam in Harvard.

4. Religious people are close minded people.
To those geniuses: If you met some rotten eggs, do not generalize the whole batch. If you think you are smarter than religious people, you should have known better.

Not all religious people are close minded. In fact, if they really want to learn about God's great creation, they are enthusiastic in learning. The world is a novel created by God as an author. To know the author, you must read his/her autobiography or biography, which in religion, would be the holy scriptures. Hope you geniuses understood those simple sentences.

5. Religious people have no logic
To those geniuses: Since you guys have superiority complex and also too close minded about the other side, people cant stop you from perceiving religious people like that.

Saying religious people having no logic is like saying they have no intelligence. How come a lot of religious people achieved so many things if they has no logic?

In my case, I'm in my master's degree now while some of my unbelieving classmates can't even graduate high school or college?

Do you geniuses ever thought that your presentation of your own logic is unclear or biased that those religious people would probably deny it? Think, geniuses.

Updated

6. Religious people are racists, sexists, religious fundamentalists/zealots,bigots,homophobes...
To those geniuses: Fer crying out loud. Does all the religious people you met are extremist? If so, go our more and meet more. You geniuses loves to generalize.

Religion is all about being holy. Racism and sexist are all against holiness. Now, about refusing to accept homosexuality, you cannot force religious people to accept it as much as you, geniuses, refuse to accept religion.

Updated

7. Scriptures (Quran and Bible) explains it all
To those geniuses: To be caught in the idea that religion explains all is really something. That is a myth. Like science, religion doesn't explain all things. It can't explain math, it can't explain political science, it doesn't explain computers etc.

And you, geniuses, demands answers in all aspect of knowledge in theistic point of view and if religious people can't give an answer to all (they can't really answer all), you just brand it stupid.

Well, geniuses, since you start in denying it, definitely you haven't read all the scriptures and denies to learn more about religion. Guess what? Science can't prove God. Science can't prove that the universe started in a big blast. Science can't prove that men evolved from simple primates. So, if the line of thought here is, " If such knowledge can't prove all things, that knowledge is stupid.", then what would science be?

-----------

I have some more but let it be this for now. I want to hear violent reactions from the geniuses of CR

Love and peace.

P.S.

Other people can add more about the misconceptions about religion. Also, this thread is intended for clarifications and no offense are intended. The above are stated for comical purposes

1) Not all religious people, there are a few who have converted because of science that they studied for years, give me time to find a list of a few names and links as to why they were heavily influenced by science to convert. So, not only do they convert away from religion, but they convert towards it aswell.

2) As said above science helped people convert, once again give me time to get a few examples of these people because I know I have them somewhere saved on this PC :P

Have you ever though of endlesslessly answering a question until you are unable to answer. We always reach to a certain point and then unable to answer any further. There are still things that science has not been able to answer, and then there is science that proves religion as well.

It really just all depends, a human mind can only explain so much... then again, we can barely explain our own minds :P

----

Don't expect any violent reactions from me, violence is a waste of time :P

Couldn't this all have been posted in the other thread that's similar about religion and intelligence?

I believe in God, but at the same time, I don't. God makes no sense scientifically, but then, without God, science makes no sense, either.

Nope, but it's what people believe, can't really help that can you?

It's just that people believe that if it can't be explained no matter what and it never will be explained, isn't there something more divine than our own perception, because it is beyond a humans understanding.

not all, but the majority is quite closed minded and the worst part is that a lot of them don't really know anything about their religion apart from the little things they hear here and there.

besides that, real "believers", well, what about them? they are as scarce as unicorns.

Religion is faith. You cannot prove religion right or wrong! It is horribly mind numbing since it is only a belief.

Because science has a lot of unanswered questions. How did the world begin? You could claim the big bang, but that had to have been caused by something, and that something had to have been caused by something else.
God is the uncaused cause, to some people.

The world began when a bunch or space dust, and other matter came together under its own gravity, compressed, and became a molten planet that slowly cooled off enough to allow water and life to collect/form, over eons.

As for how the universe came to be, that is unknown, but one way the big bang could have happened is from the collapse of another universe. all that matter from the other universe collapsed and compressed itself and then exploded again. If the was the case, then this "magical being" everyone is so fond of, even though they know nothing about it or its true intentions, had nothing to do with anything.

Also, people automatically assume that "god" is a "good" being, even though they don't know anything about it or its intentions. Hell "god" could be "evil" and made this world as fucked up as it is purely for fun.

okay, why is god uncaused and the universe not? why are u placing ur god above our universe?
and how is god uncaused?
its funny how are you putting ur god above the universe, while we have proof for the one and no proof for the other one

Its utterly useless to try to logically argue with a christian, anything you point out with facts, "God created it so" so logically arguing with them is useless, they have absolutely no sense of logic. To them "god created everything".

Trust me, using logic on them, will not and will never work. I've tried and failed.

And not to mention, I love this little fact, if "god does everything for a reason" then he purposely made this world so fucked up, now why would a "good" being do that. The only reason "god" would make this world so fucked up, would be if he was having fun with it and getting some sort of amusement from it (aka us killing/blowing up each other), thus making him "evil" by christian logic, so they willingly worship a "evil" "god".

I love that.
