ok let me try this this way the ps3 does not put much on the hard drive only saves from the game and up dates. it doesn't matter if the disk has 10GB or 100GB it reads at the same speed no matter

primarily the hard drive only saves game saves and datas (along with your occansional demo, its not that consuming), your right in saying it wouldnt matter if it was a 10GB disc or 100GB, they are read with the same speeds however!, if you have a game that consumes more, chances are its gonna be more demanding, this is where my point comes in, its faster to read the game off the hard drive then to read off a disc, this is where my point comes in again! in order to read a game like FF13 faster it would need to be put on the ps3's hard drive...and FF13 is no small game, so its gonna take up pretty much alot of the hard disc space since blu rays are 50gb (sure hitachi make 100gb 1's too but they dont use them yet)..which goes back from my reply a bit back

now how sony shoots itself in the foot

it would be faster to read form a the hard drive but no console reads off the hard drive
to say sony shoots it self the same would be for 360 and wii. all games read about the same speed. thats how consoles differ form PCs. there really is no need for it to read faster.

to put it bluntly....your wrong....consoles can read off the hard drive (assuming they have one) but havent yet...this is becuase they dont need to...whatever game they have produced didnt need to be played off a hard drive..and your also wrong in saying the same would apply for wii and 360... firstly..the wii probably cant make such demanding games that it would require the game to be burnt into the hard drive....and the 360's disc capitcy i think 7.9gb...thats hardly a gamer would complain about...should they have the elite...that not even something to ponder about.....however with blu ray which is 50gb and the hard drive is a max 80gb that is slighty more a problem...so they would avoid these kinds of problems...

it would be faster to read form a the hard drive

i agree. :)..

but no console reads off the hard drive

what the hell do you mean?.....DEMOS.....when you download like a 500mb demo from the playstation network..it burns it to the hard drive..it doesnt read it from disc.... but with games in the future they will have to read off the hard drive....its just more efficent...with developers pushing the mold, they are forced to make these alternatives just to make the game better.

i didnt say they cant i say they dont. i didnt include domes since they are small and the speed dont matter. i meant the games that would be 50gb. i agree it would be better but it will be the gen after the ps3 by the time the need is there

i just used that as a example that games can get read of the hard drive..
you hear these days from the high end company that they are gonna probably put it on the hard drive just so it preforms better like in that FF13 interview..
i still say sony are shooting themselves in the foot..i mean sure blu-rays are great, but that causing the floodgates to open and lets the developer have a field day field with uncompressed stuff...its not like ps3 has some super amazing hardware that it can keep up with anything thats thrown at them, they just have some nice stuff and use all it has to the limits...but the ps3 has been out for about a year and a bit and there maxing there techinal abilities and what happens when you need more speed..you find a way..even if its a bad way...its all about the end results anyway...but you cant trust these reviews who spout nonsense at a review covering the game in its lovejuice all becuase its thinking about its wallet at the end of the day...lets just say in short...sony hasnt got all its lose ends tied up....

now how bout we talk about ATB or real time :)?

ATB (Active Time Battle) - The way most of the FF battles works by the ATB gauge filling up so that character can have a turn.

Real Time - The way to battle on FF12 where u can attack whenever and however you want

ATB

i generally like the Final Fantasy series, n i dont get the chance to play all the FFs, but FF12 was darn boring for me. i only need to keep the character walking the gambits did everything.. the story was dull compared to others... 1 good point was the main male lead actually dont look too much of a copy of cloud/tidus etc. i was struggling to keep awake.. but failed miserably... n the worst thing is im not even trying 2 exaggerate -_- lll

Your not the only one! but FFXII combat system was not real time it was some new system someone came up with, real time is like Kingdom Hearts.

I love real time. The gambits made me not have to scroll through the menu to look for this and that. Gambits are much quicker and helpful when you have been through the area and predict what the enemy will attack you with. I survived the Necrohol of Nabudis and Nabreus Deadlands thanks to the Gambit system! Things went smoother.

Things went faster All I did with gambits were move the analog stick

FF12 was a good game but the battle system ruined it for me, I found it kinda cheap since I could attack an enemy, then run away until my time bar charges up again, then run back in to attack again.
