Well the thing is, both shinji and to some extend, brennan had their own watered down explanation about this:

Territory restrictions?
We try to get permission for worldwide broadcast (except for country of origin), but rights clearance is complicated! It will vary from country to country. We'll have a page with ALL the details soon! For example, Naruto Shippuden is worldwide except for Japan.

http://wiki.crunchyroll.com/Licensing#Is_there_any_way_for_.22unlicensing.22_to_occur.3F
Is there any way for "unlicensing" to occur?

Long story short: No. US companies have usually already paid good money to the Japanese production company to license the anime.

What you're essentially asking for is that the American company stop what they're doing, demand their license fee back from the Japanese, tell them that they won't be marketing and distributing their product in America any more, and that their mom is ugly. Okay, maybe not the last part, but you get the idea. This is considered Breach of Contract, and potentially can end up in a Court case in which the Court will basically side with the Japanese production company. Legally, unless there's a perfectly good legal reason to withdraw from a contract, the courts will usually look badly on a contract breaker.

So, no. The other alternative is to wait for the license to expire. But since it's uncertain how long companies license animes for, this is probably not a good idea. Worst case scenario is that you might have kids first.

This is in no way a definitive answer for the subject: a forum member pointed out to me that the fate of the recently deceased Geneon USA made it possible for all the animes under them to "not have a licensor anymore", in effect, "unlicensing" them. Some of their animes were licensed under different companies following this incident, but technically, for the record, unlicensing can happen due to a company collapsing.

The problem here is, no one check the news in Crunchyroll. That's why threads as we see appear >_>
They should like, put the news in sticky mode in the anime section

What they need is an internal PR division dedicated to CR, and the funny thing is, that's one of my group's main objectives: http://www.crunchyroll.com/group/Anime_Columnists?src=topbar

That is ill advisable though. The NEWS section exists for reason. If for example admin will post most news and updates on the anime section as stickies, it will flood "page one". It boils down to discipline. As members we should all be responsible, and check for updates every now and then.

I personally didn't read it, nor do I care about the places that airs the animes. Honestly people should know how to gather information without others telling them it is line 5 page 8.

Agree. Just like my group did with our researches on anime subculture, we did it all for the love of it.

I'm both a lover and a fighter of anime, for I both appreciate and advocate the anime subculture. And I love fighting for the fans' chance to understand the subculture.

Just to straight things out, do you watch stream? torrent? or simply buy DVD...? Because, the way you are doing it, I'm getting curious

Slightly off topic:

Out of curiosity what were your researches all about? And if you know, how did Geneon USA go bankrupt?

The answer: all of the above and then some. I used to be a VHS fansubber 13 years ago, like I said so in my CR profile.

I had my youthful foolishness in my past, and I won't deny it. So now I'm doing what I do, because I can't stand trapping myself with my past, when I can use the experience and knowledge to really help the anime subculture.

Wow i actually read the post >.> (well i usually do either way but eh)
Like how everyone else stated, ignorant people don't read the news so it's their fault.

On a different note:
...but even though fansubs are somewhat illeagle and hindering CR's movement to world wide plans(wow i'm making it sound like CR is trying to take over the world...lol) We also got to thank fansubs, and it's affiliates because that's how they originally became availiable in America.

Please don't respond/quote my post... I just wanted to put my two cents in and ...well that's about it.

You can see a good portion of my groups' research here: http://www.crunchyroll.com/group/Anime_Columnists/forum?src=topbar.

IMO, Geneon USA sat their standard of anime DVD production way too high. They made great North American anime DVD back then with the highest production value than anyone else did, but the North American anime media market wasn't ready for them, because not that many anime fans understand nor appreciate such novelty back then.

Everyone got an immature side during their childhood.

Back on topic, if Crunchyroll is really a free legal stream site like Youtube, I believe this site will grow fast in a year. The main problem that I consider problematic is the subbing. It's pathetic compared to the one done by fans.
