@holy_may:

Yes, many of the subs are very low quality, with many timing errors, typos, and even skipped lines. Although a few have relatively good subs. It all really depends on the company.

For example: Gonzo's subs are pretty bad compared to TV Tokyo's subs which are not as bad.

You're right. CR can't get them ATM. <obviously>

The answer: all of the above and then some. I used to be a VHS fansubber 13 years ago, like I said so in my CR profile.

I had my youthful foolishness in my past, and I won't deny it. So now I'm doing what I do, because I can't stand trapping myself with my past, when I can use the experience and knowledge to really help the anime subculture.

Everyone got an immature side during their childhood.

Back on topic, if Crunchyroll is really a free legal stream site like Youtube, I believe this site will grow fast in a year. The main problem that I consider problematic is the subbing. It's pathetic compared to the one done by fans.

Trust me, the solution to that problem is so simple, you'll all be facepalming for the rest of the day after I told you.

Every CR streamed anime have this little feature on their sites, which will grant every CR users, on both the anime or the basic membership, the license to legally sub the anime episode: http://www.crunchyroll.com/subtitle_tos?next=createsubtitle%3Fmedia_id%3D516250%26src%3Dsm

@DomFortress:

Hmm, first time I've seen that, thank you for providing the info. -facepalm-

Hmm, so that's what my friend meant o.O. A friend of mine is trying to fix up the bad quality fansubs by the companies, or something. Though the number of members on CR that know Japanese, and are willing to spend time to sub tens or maybe hundreds of anime episodes........aren't that many I'd say

I'll be direct;
Fansubbers do Karaoke effect on the Opening/Ending
The subtitle aren't just plain white or yellow
Fansubbers add notes for reference
Etc...

Even if we sub the video, I don't think much of us can translate it.

I actually find that a bit of an annoyance, but that's just to each of their owns.

So what if the CR users were also fansubbers. *points to self*

It'd be cool if the subbing program here at CR could do Karaoke Effects on the Opening/Ending, and maybe colour them? (haven't checked the subbing "program" in a while) and add what you said, add TL notes (Translation Notes).

And for crying out loud the timing >.<

If i ever were to understand japanese Fluently (like i will in a few years/months, depending on my will power) i'd get my ass to the CR's subbing "program" and sub as much as possible, since i really can't live with the subs that is here atm,

The timing sucks
They skip lines
Etc
*Cough Chrono Crusade*

The only good thing is imo, the OP's/ED's timing -_-' (pointing at Gintama)

This is atleast what i think about this.

If you'll come out in the open like that, expect a lot of requests from impatient, die-hard anime fans.

Precise your annoyance*

Even if you were an fansubbers, would you be wasting your time on doing this? Seriously, people come in this site to watch, not to work >_>

I am a going to point this out fansubbing: subs made by a FAN.

and cr gives you the option of the USER making their subtitles and use them on the videos

isn't that FANsubbing -_-

I wouldn't call that professional subbing now would I? -_-

edit if they get rid of all the FANsubbed animes then they would or rather should get rid of the option of letting a user make the subs.

btw: @ dom you've ranting about fansubbing being illegal now having said that you "user" and you yourself use the program provided aren't YOU fansubbing the whole time you're saying fansubbing is illegal etc...

Well personally, I don't think many CR users are fansubbers o.O. And also, I doubt they would have the time, or actually feel like subbing hundreds of videos....

Hmm, only solution I can see to the problem I just posted is to get fansubbers to join CR , Like basically, convince some fansubbers to stop fansubbing, and come to CR to legally sub. Though I doubt that would happen.

First at DomFortress: don't you think that is good? Ex Fansubbers subbing anime's here at CR, i wouldn't mind at all because the Fansubbers subs are damn good in my opinion.

At AnimeKami: Ofcourse it's FANsubbing, but what they fansubbers are doing is illegal (yes i have to admit i dl fansubs but on the other hand i buy the dvd's when they are out)
And the subs here at CR is not illegal

(If i'm double posting i have to beg your pardon)

I personally don't watch stream, nor do I buy DVD. I can afford torrents because I got memory space. So far, i'm going to reach 2.7 To lol
