sensei-san wrote: Let's face it... The Japanese Entertainment business is mostly concerned with physical looks than actual talent. This is why there is the position of TALENTOS in Japan. Getting paid to show up because of their looks is pretty much what TALENTOS do... most of them, anyways. Some of them climb their way up to become models BECAUSE of their "beauty." Some take classes, or even "beautify" their way to become "wanabe" actors, and they achieve this because of their looks. Others have an average decent voice and start recording music, when there are some amazing artists who have the voice, but not the looks that the Japanese people want for their IDOLS. Idols, again, are people valued MOSTLY because of their physical good looks. All these factors lead some Japanese members of the entertainment business to obsess over good looks and up the chance at surgery to remain in the public eye. The most disappointing fact that I personally am sad for some Asian artists, is the infamous double eye-lid surgery. I personally feel that they do not have to overdramatize their eyes to become better looking or even, more western looking. I feel that these people might have a misguided perception of what beauty is. I want them to accept their BEAUTIFUL NATURAL features. Then again, Plastic surgery, IS and ALWAYS will be, a topic that is linked to the multiple ENTERTAINMENT businesses around the world, so long as people believe that physical looks are what beauty truly is. This is just what I think... if you disagree with me, that's OKay. AGAIN, THIS IS JUST MY OPINION. No need to get all worked out over it. Well, actually I think that most countries are like that not just Japan. South Korea, The United States, etc.. Most countries are like this The Japanese aren't the only ones who obsess about beauty. Utada Hikaru is rather average to me but she has got talent. |

actually, i personally feel that there is no need for plastic surgery as long as you have talent. and also, you should be content with who you are, because it's your parents who made you look that way. you cant chg the fact abt who you are. but i guess, nowadays, there seriously is a need to look good. many ppl only look at your looks before they look at what you are talented in. i think my own thinking is a little old fashioned, but i'm young. haha. so i can understand. most of my friends watch shows because ppl in it are hot.

Im not really against plastic surgery but it looks kind gross when people take it to far, like some of the stars in hollywood does.

well... only people who have extreme self complexity do plastic surgery... Japanese Entertainment businesses dont force people to get plastic surgery, THAT'S CRIME!! (imo) lol

well as far as JE stars are concerned, they start out quite young and it wouldnt be surprising if they changed a lot after, cos ppl grow and we all know puberty does a great deal of things to you so even if they became better looking we shouldnt assume straight away that it was plastic surgery
