It's hard enough to hog your props. So best way is to find way to hide your belongings in the props. If not, carry a backpack. have friends with you, so they can watch your stuff while your pictures is being taken, if not. Ask the photographer to watch it. Not you don't cosplay. Dress light and comfortable, you'll be spending the whole day there i'm guessing, so bring Food, water, because everything at the Con is expensive.

I actually didn't cosplay seriously until my fourth con. I tried at my second one, but I left after the first day cause my foot coverings didn't count as "shoes". ~_~;
