hahahahaha sorry I just had to laugh at everyone who payed up to $50 for eps you can get for free at about 20 (there are probably way more than that too) different sites... and the fact that the quality is so bad is just sad *shakes head*

but the biggest issue is how much they are charging for it.... I have memberships on sites like veoh and such and it only cost me $20 .... I would never spend $50 or more on streaming anime ... Cause it would be way cheeper to wait till it comes on dvd then you get to keep the episodes...

I did not have any problems with the video streaming - no color lines, no pauses, no video stuttering and the audio was clean. If anything, I preferred the quality of the 480p over the 720p, but both were fine by me.

I was not overly impressed with the sub - I agree with <Faldwin>, I to prefer Dattebayo's (DB) subbing skills. I thought this subbed version was too pedestrian - cleaned up for the younger audience. Then again Dattebayo's translations can sometimes go a little too crude.

Anyway, I'm going to view DB's subbed version and the 1080p version of this episode. I will compare the three to see if there are any differences. I don't know why I'm doing this ... Dattebayo will no longer sub Naruto after episode #91, so that source is going away. And with Crunchyroll being the licensed distributor of Naruto Shippuuden, I'll assume they'll go after the "illegal" fansub sites and quite possibly Naruto fan sites as well. They are required to pursue these illegal sites do maintain their exclusivity, which is what Dattebayo realized and is the reason why they're no longer subbing Naruto.

So anyway, this being the first episode to be streamed by Crunchyroll, I'll hold off my final assessments until they stream a few more episodes.

You have to consider that the 60 dollars is for the entire year. That's only 5 dollars a month. Plus here it is legal, and faster. You get to support the anime industry and you get the eps right after they air, instead of waiting a day or longer for the fansubbers to sub it.

The 720p looked better than watching Dattebayo's releases stretched to fit my HDTV, so I can't complain.

As far as honorifics... are you guys watching this on mute? When somebody says, "Naruto-kun" are you concentrating so much on the text flashing across the screen that you don't hear the honorifics at all? I think fansubs have messed people if they totally tune out the audio when watching them.

You have to understand that some people have no issue with supporting the anime industry. Especially when we are getting episodes released in the US like an hour after they air in Japan. There is no point for Naruto fansubs unless the subber just want to see the industry die.

Hello again,

Well, I've reviewed the three different sources showing this episode. Basically they're the same in regards to the subbing ... minor exception for the DB version, they got a little creative, for instance at 22:36 Naruto says "Loving Smack," my butt!, DB translated it as "Loving Smack," my as_!"

DB also translated the whole karaoke scene at the end of the episode, which made it more enjoyable to watch.

The 1080p version was simply great, I even watched it on my 42" 1080p HD TV, wirelessly from my computer through my AppleTV box. Again looked very good on the TV. The font was also different than the others, but I found this font to be easier to read.

Bottom line, the Crunchyroll's streaming is just fine, and for just $5 a month, I can live with it, although I'd even pay another $5 a month if they'd stream Naruto in 1080p.

I never said I had an issue with supporting the anime industry I just think it should be more affordable.

I would much rather go out a by the dvd's for $20 than spend like $50 a year just to watch the anime the day it releases. Now if it was a legal download then crunchy would have a better reason for charging so much for the membership. As it stands now there are not enough benefits to spending so much money for something so minute.

I have to say the Pervy Sage thing is pretty horrible.

Dude, $5-$7 a month is chump change. Thats like working at minimum wage for 40 minutes to an hour. LOL, for less than the price of one McDonald's combo you can get a month's worth of new Naruto episodes and whatever else Crunchyroll simulcasts. Is Naruto that worthless to you? If so, why do you even waste time watching it?

As far the argument of, "i'd rather drop $20 on a DVD" Well, do you? Is your house filled with anime DVDs or is, "i'd rather buy a DVD" just something that you're saying to justify piracy and not something that you actually do?

My issue with the complaints is that: the industry is finally getting of their butts and is OFFICIALLY, LEGALLY, AND CHEAPLY giving us anime day and date with the japanese broadcast. Isn't this the reason that fansubbers always say that they fansub? That reason is gone. They won!!! Their goal has been accomplished! Pop champagne!

Yes, Crunchyroll is having some issues. Most of the issues could be solved by just pausing the video as soon as it starts and letting it buffer for a minute or two. Even with the current issues, which i'm sure will get fixed as time goes on, I can't help but support this. Partly because its good for the industry, partly because I want it to be a success so that this becomes a trend for all the shows that I love, and mainly because i'm a Naruto fanatic and $1.25 per episode (assuming 4 episodes a month) is chump change and is actually a discounted price considering how much I love Naruto and how little i'm paying to get it AND support the actual people who make the show.

is it just me or is 720p not really 720p, the screen contains all sort of colored lines(maybe from interlancing?) and the pixels are stil very visable.

don't get me wrong it still looks very nice, but compared to the stuff I see at gametrailers.com this looks like a lot less of quality, while gametrailers deliver it on a lower resolution.

This is currently being looked into and should be fixed here soon. If need any help with anything else, please PM me or another mod. Thank you
