Alright, well....Its almost time for me to buy a car...and well I'm kind of torn between a Subaru WRX, a Lancer EVO (if i can find one used for cheap enough) Or...a Nissan 240sx (s13)...So like I want the 240sx but I know it's going to have at least 80k miles on it...and I know it might have rust and will need some work. generally because its an old car....Also the fact it doesnt have too much room....Which could be a plus or minus when it comes to picking up people when you dont want to...

Orrrr I could get a Used WRX that has like 50k miles on it for like 10k...and not have to do as much work on it (maybe just a lil interior work to customize and a bodykit)...and I won't have to worry about anything happening to it because of its age...BUT...I wanted to pick up on drifting maybe...and i dont think i'll get the real experience from an AWD car...so yeah...which would should I pick...

imo guys who drive evos or sti's look like douche bags. Never in my life have I saw a guy drivin one and thought. Man that guy is cool (in the non sarcastic tone). This applies to men only lol. if you cant mod a car start simple with a 240sx. maybe an integra. Dont be talking off about all this "I want to tofu drift" shit thats been going around. If you arent makin bank youll find out real fast that drifting aint cheap. especially after your first crash.

im thinking of getting an evo. Do you guys know if they are reliable? cuz my mom (who works for kia and used to work for a radiator company) said she doesn't like mitsubishi cuz they fail at reliability compared to toyota but i'd like to talk to someone with first hand experience.

also do they have biturbos? can i get a decent evo for about 15 grandish? are they good for drifting? im thinking of getting an evo viii btw

1. Evos are single turboed
2. Your not finding one for 15g.
3. Its awd so drifting is a no-no.
4. No major faults in reliability as other cars but they do get abused more since it is an evo. Plus the fact its being compared to a toyota which basically runs forever.

The best advice I can give you is to go on a dedicated car forum and lurk around. The questions and post I see you making are so basic and elementary where if you spend time in a real car forum to read and search you will have learned everything you need.

I have account in almost every type of modifided car forum.

Hondatech
Dsmtalk/tuners
Tristate
Mirage forums
Galant forums
Nico (for all nissans)
Clubwrx
Clublexus
EvolutionM
Preludepower
MR2oc

....and a whole bunch more.

Learn the lingo. All you are really looking for is to be spoon feed all this information. Thats why I said go and sign up on multiple forums so you have an understand of all of them. Try to put some effort into searching! Dont understand a word thats what googles for. You see drifting evos on youtube and you assume they can drift. No they require modifications that would defeat the purpose of even having an evo period.

i have homies that drift and go through a set of new tires every month. thats about 300$ with a hookup.

240 is a great starter car, but taht but dont try drifting for a while. Theres alot to learn about driving manual and a car in general. tsuchiya makes it look easy on the drift bible but its not. Learn to rev match and heal toe so you can always be in the right gear for drifting w/e corners.

but honestly, you better have a job thats pulling in at least 500 a month if you want to mod your car at all or even attempt drifting from time to time( figuring your parents cover everything else so you would just pay for gas and your own self ). You're going to crash when you practice if its in a parking lot as well. It happens. Great buy is a drift day session and having some one go in the car with you as well as drive your car. You can learn a lot.

good luck with the purchase, dont cut springs, dont put on a body kit if you're drifting ( AND NEW ! ). Maybe some bolt ons, a beefier clutch is all you need with your first drift car. Save the rest for repairing suspension pieces that randomly snap, tires and maybe some tickets =]. Oh and no one is pro right away, it takes alot of time and a lot of practie. and best learn that rev matching -> heel toe skills, else all you'll learn to do is donuts and low speed drifts. And you can practice rev matching/heeltoe on the streets so why the hell not? its a must <3

The choices are a tad bit... EXTREME. You have a 240 that you could get for under 2k, but then you have a WRX which is difficult to obtain under 70k miles without spending over 10k. Then you have an EVO, which is almost impossible to get under 20k. Choices are extreme kinda. Im all down for awd, so if I were you I would get a 1994 Impreza coupe and simple upgrade the body to the RS style. Learn how to drive it a bit and either: A.) Buy a motor from a 96 Legacy and build that. ej25, which are pretty bad ass if done right, and a lot cheaper than B. or B.) Buy a big dadddehhh ej20 and be set. ( Sti Motor ).

But if you want to have fun and not have to worry about all your money going down the drain. Get the 240. Its fun and very ... flexible. You can do just about anything in, I dont really think you should do all the drifting though. Its pretty expensive and considering you are only 17. Im pretty sure you dont really have the funds.
