i dont know why but

i have strolled a lot of forums about remakes...

and bad thing is when i read about remakes of other nation like for example the remake of Meteor Garden/Hana Yori Dango a lot of good reviews and comments are posted when it comes to Japan, Korea, Taiwan and Mainland plans on remakes but when a news or even a rumor came up of Filipino remaking a drama series why does a lot give bad comments...not only bad ones but also those degrading ones like putting up that Filipino sucks...they kinda disturbing in a way that it made me ask , are we that bad? or don't we have a chance? is there a discrimination of Filipinos in crunchyroll, i hope im wrong...

hhmm.. i guess the way we remake bothers some pipz.. Like My Girl.. im an avid fan of my girl korean (it's my top 1 fav kdrama), some don't like my girl philippines because it's dramatic in a way compared to korean my girl.. well the thing here is that i appreciate my girl philippines because it's like a filipino culture kind of way.. the way they emphasize family bonding, etc...

filipino's remake or original series/movie/drama, to sum it up is kinda more realistic, that's just how life really happens and that is why it is also overrated.. well i guess viewers want more romantic-cute scenes like other countries have..

actually just last year (2008) when i wacthed "A Love Story" by Ms. Maricel, Aga and Angelica, that movie made me look at drama in a different way.. it has a moral lesson and the characters involved are what i call reallity.. and that's why i still love our dramas, though im not into drama show/movie fan..

well for me any country has the right to remake and i believe every country can produce thier OWN remakes womderfully.. but please i hope they won't make remakes like Jumong or Jewel in the Palace kind of drama because.. well.. i dunno.. it's a korean culture drama.. it's thier own culture.. it's like remaking Jose Rizal by other countries.. kinda weird.. well.. dunno just an opinion..

i dunno.. actually this topic's also a BIG question of mine..

nice forum post!

I'm also a Filipino but I have nothing against remakes, no offense to my kababayans but it was really true that Filipinos are very perfectionist. They always criticize everything that's gonna happen so it is possible in the future that there will be no more to expect. I believe that when it comes to effects, we don't have much to offer for our viewers, but it doesn't mean that we won't adhere our own production even if it's a remake or whatever. We just need to appreciate a little more and just have fun watching it.

Well anyway, the reason why we don't see much humor in Philippines' drama is having not enough adventurous writers. I'm an aspiring writer but I really don't know how to promote the one and only story that I've written.

Filipinos can make dramas way better than the remakes they make. I think it's the laziness.

I agree! & I'm a filipino,
I think the writer's/gma/abs-cbn can't realli think of stuff(which i a totally downer)
to make. Every country should be original!

I have to say this frankly, but the casting's sucks, y'know? I have seen more and more amateur actors/actresses in Filipino TV shows. And it gets on my nerves that the quality is sooo bad. BUT, I'm not saying ALL of them are bad. There are really good actors and actresses especially the elites in the Filipino showbiz. But the new ones, ngh *grimaces* not so much. I noticed that some recruit those who have the "looks." so shallow. Also, they need that "kilig" factor to sell their shows. Not really working. That's why "THOSE" actors/actresses are long forgotten (expired) because... have they mark something significant in quality TV? I guess not.

Also, Filipino writer's and producers should "step out of the box." Get away from "safe," and try to be more innovative. I'm seeing lots of romance and fantasy, or comedy nowadays. It's getting tedious sometimes.

I've seen original works by fillipinos that are enjoyable, so remaking (especially remaking poorly) is kind of disappointing.

HERES WHAT I THINK:

1. none of the filipino actors can compare to those foreign ones. (in terms of looks, acting, personality, etc._
2. whoever works on the remake doesn't necesarily care about how the story will be, they only care about how the audiences will accept it, like ratings. becauseof this they just chose someone or a popular pairing so people will watch. they dont care about whether or not they suit the roles, its just about money and ratings for them!
3. most filipinoes are full of pride and shit.

in my opinion doing a remake itself sucks, why watch a remake if you've seen the original..people who haven't seen the original thinks the remake is good coz for them that's the original. it sucks to do a remake of a korean, japanese or taiwanese drama because filipinos are not like them, different culture, different way of living, different hobbies and etc..i think the only common is we all live in the same continent. koreans, japanese and taiwanese yes they're good acting cutie, and looking like a dork...and filipinos are not, coz they are better looking elegant, funny, simple, sophisticated, and just being themselves...overall it only really matters to the viewers, and what the viewers wants to see. so far filipino movies are getting better..watching the love story and a very special love, made me say "it wasn't bad" actually good...doing a remake suck, i would rather watch the drama with english sub on it instead of remaking it.

Filipinos can make a good remake, it's just that its already too tiring seeing the same love teams and other casts. Oh, and also lack of budget and which is one of the reason why the overall cinematography of the drama looks too simple compare to J and K dramas. I think we're almost there.

Well at least, no one beats our Filipino documentaries

hahaha!

i dont think filipinos can't make a good remake because there are some that was really good like My girl, it was a good adaptation of the korean drama but when it comes to the last few episodes it was BLAH but still it was an acceptable remake

and Lalola was quite good, it was hilarious but too bad it was removed from CR and don't know where can i watch it now..

but im looking forward for the remake of lovers in paris, they said it will star piolo pascual and kc concepcion, i hope it will turn out okay..
and quite thrilled that they will do meteor garden!!
im excited!!
