Haruhi Season 2 Due (Says Newspaper)

There will be a second season of the Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi, says major rag Mainichi. For details, see Newtype, they say.
The almost surreal marketing efforts surrounding Haruhi seem to have become yet more convoluted with this.
On the one hand, many are quick to point out that surely they are jumping the gun in reporting an announcement of an announcement a month in advance? Should the announcement turn out to be marketing fun and games they will have made themselves a laughingstock.
On the other hand, many wonder if perhaps Mainichi have reason to be confident; possibly they have behind the scenes assurances of what may transpire?
Mainichi may have a damaged reputation, but they are still a major, respectable newspaper, so from this perspective it is a little implausible that they would make fools of themselves by reporting a non-story; making a Haruhi related error also seems unlikely given the announcement comes from their anime section, which is able to follow these matters professionally.
Whatever the case, Newtype have secured a major marketing coup either way – now they have national newspapers reporting on their vague announcement of a possible new series announcement.
Haruhi marketing at its finest.

Light novel, actually. The manga's based off the anime and the light novel, but it covers more than the anime does.

So am I.

The novelty seems like it could wear off quickly (if it hasn't already). The animators would probably do better to quit on this one while their ahead.

Meh. I had just about given up on this one, since there's been so much "It's been officially announced!!" "Never mind!! False alarm!! Haha made you look!!" nonsense going on up 'til now. Because of that (and the experiences I've had with irritating fangirls coming up with rumors like this for some time in the limelight) I'd like to see some hard evidence. If a link to and perhaps a translation of the article was provided, or if it showed up on ANN, THEN I'd believe it. Until then, I'll hope that this is the truth and wait until it's official to get into happy dance mode.

they always say that there's going to be a second season so why should I believe in this article?

Then again, there's always FANSERVICE! Btw, it seems that i found the impossible. An english dub of the Genderbending of Haruki Suzmiya. Although I had less luck finding the doujin/visual novel of the GHS, this should definately feed the lives of so many Suzumiya fans. It still makes me wonder how they can make Mikuru a successful genderbent character. Maybe this finding is coincidental from a combination of my boredom and the fact that we're studying gender roles in my psychology class.
I know that Kyonko's and Kyon's personality are supposed to be similar but Kyon seems so damn different genderbent. On the other hand everyone else just seems the same, especially Haruhi weirdly enough. Maybe it was because she was gar to begin with (which doesn't make sense since she's a girl).

The rest of it can obviously be found on the guy's account
I'm refering to the audio disks for those of you who are currently creaming in their pants thinking about the genderbent Haruhi. I know he's not only gar but so gay as well, he gropes a penis.
