wow arent there Enough of meteor graden/Hana yori dango/boys over flowers already? all these guys r ugly comparing to the recent Korean version or the japanese version before that. Just forget about this mainland attempt cuz there's no way any of these remake version can be as good as the korean one. Please watch it at http://www.mysoju.com/boys-before-flowers/ , if u havent heard 4 episodes came out in the last 2 weeks and so far its been pretty big. im pretty sure theres no way mainland gonna beat korea in this one. impossible. and ew these nominated actors in the posts above look like a bunch of japanese band copycats, corny and little.

i didnt intend to offend anyone or their idols or anything so if u dont agree just move on becuz sooner or later ull realize which is actually better. and thank you for those who agree with me. its a fact!!!! have u seen the budget korea is spending on their making rite now?? i am giving korea a lott of props for still making it "really interesting" in despite following after the 1st 2 versions.

ohh and im gonna add something else
for those who think the korea's plot is weird. well if u really think about it people are not gonna be interested in watching the same thing over and over again with just different actors because thats retarded therefore they are smart enough to twist the original plot around making it a little different or even more interesting. its actually is the most realistic version out of the bunch.

Korean version is really flawed and I don't see where the characters are heading. People like it. People are always going to like Love-hate relationships, even if the characters aren't well-developed. But its lack of smooth character development will always make it a shadow to the Japanese, and probably even the TW version, which I've only watched some of.

Dao Mingsi was not mean enough in the beginning and he fell for Jandi in two seconds. there is going to be zilch in terms of character progression. He's just a nice guy.

Jandi - Kind of annoying. Coarse, unrefined and not smart compared to the Tw and Japanese versions who had kick-butt actresses who were not loud or annoying but were still strong characters. The beauty of her being scared in the beginning and afraid of Dao Mingsi is completely gone. Instead she just hurls insults at him and he's just like..."I love you!".

Rui - Completely, completely ruined. He is absolutely useless here. He has no charm to make Jandi like him over the Dao Minsi. There is no love triangle. There is simply Dao Mingsi and Jandi and their little love-hate relationship and this weird creepy guy who smiles a lot.

The second tier relationship btw the friend and the playboy...this is crap. This is basically a shadow of the main relationship. Playboy jerk and poor girl with a spine. What's the point of having these personalities a second time? Jandi's friend is supposed to be a nice girl without Jandi's spine. She's supposed to set apart Jandi. Now it's basically all poor girls in the series are just strong-willed and the rich ones are stupid.

Spending budget does not equal awesomeness.
And different plot does not mean weird plot.

So far, I liked the two non-important F4 members. They were pretty goodlooking, espeically one of them who was the highlight of every episode. But it's quite sad when the supporting actors are more interesting than the leads, who were boring at best.
And despite all the money they spent, Goong/Princess Hours and Witch Yoo Hee' cinematography and clothing were far superior.

You can call Top Combine copycats all you want, because there are elements of copying, but don't BS about Yu Haoming and Wei Chen after only seeing their picture.

I've actually seen all three version of HYD. I've watched Japanese boybands, Korean boybands, Wei Chen and Yu Haoming. Don't judge when you know nothing about Yu Haoming or Wei Chen.

i kno the chinese guy didnt get plastic surgery...im just saying that they look really really really similar..
and how do u kno if the kor version failed? its so popular and the ratings are so high
maybe czu im half korean and japanese but i think the jap and kor version are the best
"the chinese wont be able to bring the richness of f4 and the students of the school b/c they are financially poor" -a quote from my chinese friend. even she thinks its gonna fail...
and as for the boybands.. the super boy? is that wat they are called? they are a copy of super junior if u havent noticed..

I liked the Japanese version the best. It had really good acting, setting, plot and everything. The Korean version's leads were the worst actors of the bunch, and the plot was weird.

Well, Hunan TV made Dreams Link, and they did well in showing the character's richness, as seen here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oZRncPeDNZQ&feature=related

Super Boys isn't a boyband, it's an American Idol-like competition for males. In fact, the first Super Boy competition was held in 2003, but was replaced by Super Girls until 2006. Which means Super Boys came before Super Junior.
But most of the Super Boys are far more musically talented than any boyband member I know. Three of them compose almost all of their own songs, and at least half of them have composed.
Chen Chusheng's self-composed "Has anyone told you" was downloaded 16million times through China Mobile last year(12 million downloads more than its runner-up, Jay Chou's "Rainbow," more than one third of all of Jay Chou's downloads (36 million) and more than all SHE songs combined(14 million)).

Has anyone told you live:

mv:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8LCoASVrjF4&feature=related

Allen Su also composes a majority of his own songs:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kA-8rjR08TQ
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hQnaLCcyO5U&feature=related

Jason Zhang has an amazing voice and also composes:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o8BD3DmoRlk
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0seDa-gQHbs&feature=related

Wang Yuexin has also composed, though not as much as the other guys:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s3iRMpAgeyk&feature=related
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6VKireXuqIM&feature=related

And then there's Top Combine. Ma Xueyang obviously composed Cotton Candy

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UmdXQG-eHS4

omg this is turning into like a nationality competition... im guessing ur chinese????
i dont mean to like degrade china or something but ill always be biased and support my blood countries...
i dont kno if u read the manga but the korean domyoji is the one that most fits the manga domyoji...
matsumoto changed domyoji a little bit when he was acting...
and yea the japanese were very good actors esp makino but jun and shun's acting became a issue in jap..
o and when i say copy of kor/jap boybands i mean their looks and style...and sometimes songs too
dont get me wrong..im not trying to offend anybody im just stating my opinion..

For the past 2 weeks, I have been so annoyed with the Korean HYD and I couldn't figure out why.
I think you just solved it for me.

Sure, Korean BOF is fresh, but it is AFTER ALL a remake, which means a copy of the original manga. So they should stick to the main points in general-which they don't.

You are completely right. Rui is practically invisible in this version. Unlike the Japan version which adds depth to Rui's character and to the plot, Korean BOF is just another love story between Jandi and Ji-Ho. Another Hate/Love story. I'm kinda mad about the Doumyoji character too! He fell for her in seriously "two seconds." That is so lame. What a leader of the F4. And speaking of F4, they are so useless in Korean version. They are just there for eyecandy. There is no "AHHH, they are so cool" factor in them. But yes, they are handsome. Just not as tight knitted as they should be.

I should stick to the main topic---but...I salute you, huangmeixi. I finally found someone who doesn't obsess over the Korean version, and agree that it will always be the shadow of Japanese Hana Yori Dango.

BACK TO TOPIC....

Well....there's a Taiwanese version, Japanese version, now Korean version. So why not Mainland China right?
Ridiculous. Though, I'm in love with the original plotline so I have to watch it. Just as I am so annoyed with the Korean version, I'm still watching it. At least its entertaining.

I'm quite happy with this cast list. Maybe it will make them more well-known. I just hope it doesn't turn out to be the worst remake. I think it is stupid to make so many remakes as each one just sets expectations higher. But that's China, I guess. Always wants to be the best. [And, yeah I'm Chinese ahahah]

--->oh, I think the guys are kinda cute anyway. But I seriously wonder if their acting is up to par with the Japanese acting. Like..REAL ACTING.

I watch the korean version, mostly to compare it

I like jandi's character and i think the korean version of doumyoji looks like what he does in the manga
But the two of them together isn't doing much for me
their relationship is progressing too quickly
he is already in love with her and she is falling for him and it is only the 4th episode
Plus I didn't like the remake of the rain scene and elevator scene, the chemistry between doumyouji and makino was impossible to ignore, these two kind of fizzle in my opinion, i also do not approve of the snow rewrite, snow should be used more for playful, date scenes whereas rain is for more emotional scenes, hence why it worked so well in HYD

I also do not find any of the korean F4 all that attractive except for kim bum, i mean they are okay but i prefer the previous F4s
(Please do not kill me)

The evil wench in the korean version also is no where as bad ass as the one in HYD. This girl seems to be acting out only b/c joon pyo likes her, while the other one had this very involved plot of planning to get revenge on him using makino, plus I do not think she is all that pretty. The crazy girl in HYD was really pretty.

My major problem with this version is ji hoon (Korean Rui). He is not making the character his own. I have no problem with the fact this version changes up the plot a little, the other two versions weren't exactly identical but I feel like Ji Hoon is just a bad version of Oguri's Rui. I really wish that he would do something with the character that hasn't been done before. I mean Lei is very different from Rui. Ji Hoon should be different too. They also need to give this guy a different instrument. He fake plays the violin terribly, I mean it is very bad. And they do close ups which only makes it worse. (Sorry for rambling, I used to play the violin)

I'll keep watching to see what they do, hopefully the leads together will become more interesting but I doubt it. I still really like the Jandi character. The one thing I am really looking forward to is kim bum's relationship with the friend. There was so much chemistry between the two and they were only on the screen for like 5 minutes. I think they should change the storyline and put the two of them together. They have the chemistry lacking in the main relationship.

If you read all of this, I apologize for being for so long-winded

Oh, don't worry. In terms of boybands, I totally agree. Top Combine, HIT-5, etc. definitely have lots of Korean influence. I mean, boybands reached its height in Korea. And Top Combine is half-owned by a Korean company and trained in Korea with a Korean member. On the other hand, I don't think that makes them any worse than any other boyband.
The Korean one...I had high expectations for it, like good actors, cute plotline and gorgeous setting, but neither of those surpassed the Japanese version.
I don't really expect the mainland version to be better than the Japanese version, but I don't think you should term it "fail" before anything is announced about it.
And I really wish people wouldn't judge a country's music by its boybands.

P.S. I did read the manga. All three versions were pretty different from the manga. But again, I liked the Japanese version the best.

I feel that people are too protective of the previous versions of Meteor Garden, perhaps because it is from their own country or just because they love it so much.
A new meteor garden is NOT going to detract from the previous versions. If you feel so attached to the "original" version, just simply don't watch this new one. But China has every right to make a their own version. If it's going to "fail", so be it. That's a risk Hunan TV is apparently willing to take. But really, there's no point in bashing it before it even comes out...well actually even before the official cast is set. Just my opinion :)

Twilightoon How can Superboys, which is a singing competition, be copying Super Junior, which is a boyband?? Perhaps you really had no idea what Superboys was and saw the "super" in the name and automatically assumed negative things since you seem pretty against anything Chinese.

And there's no way that Yu Haoming had any type of plastic surgery. idarklight already posted plenty of his baby pics to prove it. Yu Haoming is a hardworking guy who was a normal person until his talents became known through the Superboy competition. It's not right to insult him by accusing him of having plastic surgery just because he slightly resembles some Korean celebrity who is actually barely known in China.
