Is Yamashita a guy or girl?

its a girl watch the anime more closely and u'll see it =/

I'm not sure some times Yamashita acts and dresses like a boy and some times acts and dresses like a girl........its really confusing actually .........still i think Yamashita is a girl ........sadly i have no evidence to prove that

First I thought he was boy, then he likes Mr... I forgot his name.

i would say he is a guy because there was a scene where they were on a beach and he was wearing only shorts, if he was a girl they would have had to sensor something......just my thought though.

Yamashita was in a bikini though on the beach as well...it is possible that he is an in between. In a way though, he/she responds more to the male characters. There is also that scene in ep. 15 where Yamashita is next to youske (sp) when he wakes up.

he's a boy

If you read the manga, i believe it's revealed pretty early on that Yamashita's a girl.

It's rather funny, but they refer to Yama as a "he" several times in the sub-titles, but according to the official Japanese Linebarrel site for the bio's it clearly state Yama is a girl. But then again to add more mystery to the question, Satoru is a man's name which translates to, "Of greater understanding" So for now, the battle of gender rages on.

I don't get what the fuzz is all about, she sounds like a girl, always has. And on top of that she's running around in a bikini in one ep, I would think it's pretty clear?

In the episode where the bikini was worn it also sounded like s/he was getting razzed pretty good too about wearing it. I speak with my Japanese professor tonight at class who said that it is a man's name.

Maybe you should look at the manga then? I don't really think it's too much to think about imo

And well, if it states that she's a girl on the official linebarrel site, as I said, not too much to discuss about lol

Some girls do behave like boys, and some guys behave like girls. It's not that uncommon lol

Yamashita is a girl.. for the looks of it dress as a little kid ... has a major crush on the traitor guy.. besides that already episode in the beach come out in the girl swim suit.. Might be a girl that was force to live as boy has some identity conflict

Still, I am curious as to the name, Satoru Yamashita. Satoru is a man's name, and no matter how many searches I do in both English and in Japanese cannot find any reference to a Japanese woman with the first name Satoru.

probably parents force her to act as boy and so name her that way..so far I have come to 2 anime that deal with this from boys view as in boy being force to dress as girl for x motive example anime Maria Holic one of the main characters shidou or something alike is a male being force by his family to dress as girl and go to an all girl school.. and Shugo Chara Nagishiko/Nagihiko boy dress as girl to improve dance skills for most of his life
