The fact that in the manga the character is a girl, is pretty much 100% proof.

Also, on the vacation episode, when she was seen in a bathing suit, there was no bulge. This show is a tad ecchi, so it can be concluded, that if a guy were to wear a speedo, there would at least be some visibility in the lower region, reinforcing the fact that Yamashita is a girl.

well I saw a post saying y didn't they censor her when she was wearing only shorts and that would most likely be either that the makers of the anime/manga were using that to trick ppl or as humor as in saying that she is just too flat to censor. Otherwise 1.y would she wear a bikini. 2.y would she have been in the girls changing room in the first place to change into that bikini. and 3.y would she have liked Meiji. She's a girl it rly shouldn't confuse this many ppl. It's most likely just a joke to mess with ppl's minds, since if u will notice they never refer to her as a him or a her, they purposely don't give a certain gender. plz correct me if I'm wrong abt this last bit of info yes I've watched all of the eps till now but I don't know if I paid that well of attention to this so I'm not sure if this is right, if u correct me though plz give the episode and time into the episode for the use of him, her, she, or he in reference to Yamashita.

She is a she lol It was alittle hard to find out at first because just looks like a bishounen boy but later on u can just tell its a she and doesnt she get changed with the girls. If she was a male He is one lucky man just wayy too lucky so lucky it makes me angry *grrr* lol. I also read the manga and it depicts yamashita as a female there as well.

Why all the discussion when all we need are cold hard facts?

Episode 12 - From the Tropics with Love
Duration : 6th minute 40th second - (10 seconds) - 6 minute 50th second
Scene : Yamashita wearing a bikini. Now I know some of you could turn around and say, "Hey, maybe the girls are just playing a prank on him and forcing him to wear that bikini". But to me that idea would be too far-fetched and even for a manga (as it was originally created) as sexualized as this one it would be pushing it too far.

Yamashita (UNDOUBTEDLY A GIRL)

A little more of what I personally think her character is meant to represent :

The manga artists are trying to sell the idea of a young GIRL, who LOOKS like a guy. But also sometimes a girl when the manga artists pleases. Now while most of us rather girls be girls and dress as girls, some people don't go that way. I can easily name the millions of lesbians worldwide who would sometimes want their dream-GIRL, to be macho, almost man-like. However, I wouldn't say Yamashita is developing to be a lesbian in the future, mainly due to her obsession with Murutsugi dude. She probably doesn't know she gives off the lesbian aura that's all (how could she, she's practically figments of a manga artists' imagination)

Thanks for reading. MOAR!! Topic Closed!

look basically the entire episode has pretty much nthing to do with the story line and the idea of it bein a prank is too farfetched for you yet the idea of a giant horny squid that somehw strips kizaki of her clothes isnt ? hmm.....

yamashita is actually a guy, but in the manga he is a she, i guess they thought it would be interesting to make yamashita a homosexual and totally want mitsurugi ding-dong

Satoru Yamashita (山下 サトル ,Yamashita Satoru?) Voiced by: Miyuki Sawashiro
A Factor in the Special Task Force, Satoru pilots the long-ranged combat Machina, Hind-Kind. He holds Moritsugu in high regard, and follows his orders without question. Possessing a very aggressive combat style, he considers Factors to be murderers, though he, himself, dislikes and avoids taking the lives of others. In the manga Satoru is Female, Whilst the anime portrays her as a male.

I think this should clear matters up. The manga is clear: MALE. Anime is clear as well: FEMALE

Source: I personally read the manga and you can also find this on the wiki.
