Ever felt like the envy of someone brought bad luck upon you? Like you had these new shoes that no one else had—some really neat ones that everyone admired—and soon after they broke or something?

“The evil eye is a belief that the envy elicited by the good luck of fortunate people may result in their misfortune. The perception of the nature of the phenomenon, its causes, and possible protective measures, varies between different cultures... While some cultures hold that the evil eye is an involuntary jinx cast unintentionally by people unlucky enough to be cursed with the power to bestow it by their gaze, others hold that, while perhaps not strictly voluntary, the power is called forth by the sin of envy.” – Wikipedia

Not everyone “possesses” the evil eye. Some have an “eye” more powerful than others.
“Belief in the evil eye is strongest in the Middle East, East and West Africa, South Asia, Central Asia and Europe, especially the Mediterranean region; it has also spread to other areas, including northern Europe, particularly in the Celtic regions, and the Americas, where it was brought by European colonists and Middle Eastern immigrants.”—Wikipedia

So, do you believe in it? Surely you’ve heard of it, somewhere, from someone.

I have. And I do believe in it myself although I haven’t experienced it first hand [nothing serious, anyway]. But I have heard stories about it.

Here’s an example: A relative of mine had a gorgeous mane. Heading for a wedding, she obviously got plenty of comments on her hair, and within 5 minutes of arriving at the wedding, her hair suddenly caught fire—fire that flamed feet above her head. The nearest candle was far away. Perhaps her colour-/chemical-treated hair was set on fire by the lighting which was far away? Not likely. Luckily, someone splashed her with water in time to save her from serious burns. The same girl had her hair falling out in two previous occasions, one earlier than the one I just mentioned. She got some flaky patch on the nape of her neck, no hair growing there anymore. After going to many specialists and doctors, she was advised to go see a sheikh [scholar] and she did. The scholar asked about her condition and although blind, he pinpointed the exact area without being told, immediately declaring the incident one from envy: the evil eye. The girl was treated with Quranic verses and other Islamic healing rituals for three days—and then she was healed. [i.e. we don’t believe in the works of talismans...just God & His acceptance of our prayers]

Your views are appreciated. =)

Sometimes people who really hate something or someone might have some unknown affect to it or them which sometimes freaks them out.

I once really hated this dude and well i wanted to kick his ass, well few weeks later he was in an accident, kinda freaked me out.

Envy does not lead to bad luck, but it does lead to stealing other people's shit. People will do that if they want your things bad enough.
