Agreed.

the style.....and well...i guess anime wont just be japan anymore

Seriously, if you have problems differentiating a american cartoon with anime in terms of style of drawings... you have a SERIOUS problem.

We can't forget that animes have two strong characteristics that make them so:
1. Anime was a word to describe animation made IN japan BY japanese people. It has a unique style of drawing. So to summarize, if it comes from japan, ITS ANIME.
2. Manga. Although it does not happen EVERYTIME, manga (the japanese counterpart for american comics) is what spawns the production of an anime, and the anime is, in every sense, the animation of a manga. However, not all animes follow this rule. For example, Code Geass didn't came from a manga, but the anime itself has spawned several spin-off manga and video game series.

Call me an idiot or an asshole, but if you start calling Avatar an anime, you may as well make a petition for the americans that drew it so that they make it into comics and you may start calling it manga as well.

And before you ask, no, I don't hate America, since I was born and live on american territory. I just hate when people call things what they aren't, specially when I have watched over 100 anime series and CAN tell the difference between another american cartoon and an authentic anime series.

no dude im not gonna call u those. ur right. though since anime is a japanese word then u cant add "s" to the end of it to make it plural.
but i dont really care too much what the difference is. the show is good and has a similar style. i guess its SIMILAR to anime but not officially anime. sorry to not specify or say y i just put that there. plus i dont know what category to put it under, i dont write in forums that often
i can tell the difference....maybe if there was a seperate category for tv series i wouldve put it there. and i didnt assume u hated america. i dont judge on that, sir. hmm....the only thing that concerns me tho are the BAD americans shows based off of anime *cough* kappa mikey....

very true. these are all very horrible choices. even if avatar is american anime, it should have ASIAN actors. i dont mean to be racist, but having asian actors would dramatically improve the "feel" of avatar. the guy playing sokka looks like he might pull it off, but i wont count on it. but the worst part is, JESSE McCARTNEY IS NOT ZUKO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! there is no way in hell that pretty boy can pull off the dramatic emo personality that zuko has.

so heres what i think of jesse mccartney being zuko and the other horrible choices:

I just hope they dont lose the epicness of the show but im not counting on it.

Either a movie is catches the feel of epicness or fails at trying to be epic.

Example

If the movie can pull off half the feel of this pic then thats something.

Could any live action do that.....

no

omg wow....i cannot imagine them being the characters for Avatar. and Jesse McCartney?!!?!?!? I can' see him being bad. Jackson Rathbone might pull of Sokka, but since I've only seen him in Twilight, I don't really know what to say yet. And how is he going to pull of being a 16 year old? (forgot Sokka's age, but somewhere in that range). Nicola Peltz might be the best out of all three of them, but I wish her skin was a little bit darker. Avatar is the best thing that America can come up with to be close to what I consider an anime....so yeah, they should at least have Asian actors to portray the characters in Avatar. Or just leave it animated and make it into a huge movie.

I think it's gonna bomb. I mean, show's like that (whether anime or not) should never be live action. One would need a huge budget and tons of special effects to make it look even close to the cartoon. But even then, it would just look cheesy. It would either be too realistic to the point that it doesn't look like the cartoon or too cartoonish to the point that it just wouldn't be convincing or realistic. It's a lose-lose! Which is why I don't think the live action DBZ will do well either.

I personally believe animes should be left alone by Hollywood. They cant get game movies right, they are just starting to get comic book movies right, who the hell thinks they can pull off anime too? On the same note cowboy bebop is going Hollywood too, and guess who is Spike, FREAKING Keanue Reeves, great just great right!?! Ohh Hollywood out of original ideas and enough money to rape anything original!

They're using Jesse McCartney. I have nothing at all against him, but come on! I think most, if not the whole cast, are going to be white, which angered some people.

one of the the reasons why anime is created is because people couldnt really play the part, if they going to use real people for it then i guess the anime fantasy will be ruined

btw, i have nothing against Jesse McCartney either (kinda like him actually) but him playing as prince zukoo is something i wont b looking forward to.

I think you talk without knowing neither it's not wrong to call avatar anime. You know what all those "happy feet" , "madagascar" or "kung fu panda" they are all animations ok no problem so far. Do you know that anime in japanese is the short version of "animēshon" and "animēshon" comes from the ENGLISH word "animation" so anime=animation. Avatar is an anime and there is nothing you can do about it no matter how much you complain. How about you start a petition to change the english word "animation" then they would be called different things
