Making it in the States |

With Utada's new English song Come Back to Me, there's been a lot of speculation that with this single she will finally break into the American music market. What do you think?
Personally, I have a lot of hope that this will get her some recognition. I like the song a lot (despite some people griping about it being too mainstream), and I think other people will too. But then there's the issue of promotion. I think that Island Records is trying harder this time, so I say yes, she will make it! But even if she doesn't I will love her eternally anyways. I'll just have to save up for a tour in Japan instead of America. |

I'd love it if she did make it big. The song is more American friendly, but I'm not sure if it'll stand out because there it is kinda similar to other American songs (also the economic crisis may affect sales).
I like the song, but I was hoping it would be more like her Japanese music. Nevertheless hope she makes the break through. |

Well, I think it's a "safe" R&B song since my friends thought of her style of singing Come Back To Me as Beyonce or Mariah Carey. I really hope that her upcoming english album has more songs that are like her Japanese songs <substantial and passionate>

I hope she becomes popular. I'm hearing more about Asians though. I was listening to KIIS FM a couple of months ago and Ryan mentioned Boa. :] It surprised me.

I'm hoping she makes it in the States. I was emailing radio stations around my area to help promote it. I really want to see her do a tour, especially in Boston! :] i agree with how "Come Back to Me" sounds mainstream, but there's still Hikki in it and I think it's better for her to play it safe in the States, where they aren't used to her sound yet, but I'll bet that once she makes it here, her music would evolve more.
