I just want to add something:

Shinji shot himself in the foot by saying "the episodes will be available the same day as it airs in japan".
Since those episodes are available on free sites that same day too.

some of us would like to try and support the industry.

Since most of you people seem to have the same welfare mentality of fucking chavs I guess it cannot be helped.

hey hey just stating the facts here so dont group me with "those people".

I understand why shinji is doing this and if it was me who was running cr I would probably do something similar .
I know how hard it can be to run a website. And ofc I understand why people want to support the industry.
Just saying that shinjis solutions arent exactly flawless

Actually Im not doing anything to support the industry but Im not exactly stealing money from them either. Its not like I would buy the DVD if it werent available on Inet.

It may sound weird to you but I dont want to support them. I take everything as it comes.
As long as there is someone providing me with free anime, I will watch it.
If they stop, I will NOT watch it

In the end you do not care about the form of entertaiment you are given and will keep leeching off it until there is no more and move onto another form. How incredibly human of you.

There now you get it.
Ofc I dont care about something that doesnt benefit me directly. Im not THAT much of a fan.
They dont benefit me, I dont benefit them. They dont steal from me, I dont steal from them.
I remain neutral.

Ofc Im human. Arent you?

You are stealing. Everytime you watch a hollywood film online it is stealing but since this comes from Japan it is seen as alright.

The human remark was a cynical remark towards how we as people in general act.

First of all: I dont differ hollywood films with asian films (or anime) Copyright as copyright.
But it was anime we were discussing here. You only think that way because hollywood makes a bigger fuss about it.

Second: explain to me how I am stealing? Do they lose money if I stream an anime episode I werent going to buy anyway?
Blame the host or the uploader for such things. They make it available for those who WERE going to buy it. As well as me.
You may see me as a villain if your sight is clouded by strict morals and anime-obsession.
But I've never taken anything from them. Leeching off them perhaps, but I never did something that made them make less money. Sorry

Maybe Im actually HELPING them (if only a little). I've made their series more popular by telling people that they should watch them

The more support the host gets the more inclined he is to keep running the site therefore you are causing the companies to lose money. Telling people to go to <insert site name> and watch an anime does not really help them at all.

in regards to this

Do they lose money if I stream an anime episode I werent going to buy anyway?

This is like going into a restaraunt eating the food and then deciding that you do not want to pay the bill.
Here you have eaten and tried the product (the food/stream) but are refusing to pay for it even though it may have enjoyable.

Same thing here.
I dont support the host either. I only improve their visitor statistics. That may result in them making more money out of ads. But the owner of the ad is the one directly supporting the host, not me.
And I was wrong about mentioning the host since they in most cases dont have anything to do with anime.
If they (for example veoh) make more money they will invest it. Maybe in better servers or faster connections, not in hosting anime.
If they get better connections and servers more people will seek their site (do you get the feeling that this is getting far-fetched?). That includes anime-uploaders (and now its back to them)
Im just a link in a loooooooong chain that dont support the industry.

no its not. Now you'll have to think straight.
If I eat and then leave without paying I have consumed physical things that the resturant has paid for.

In streaming I just watch a copy (!) consisting of 1:s and 0:s.
But you cant copy food.
No one loose money, no one gain money (except the host who have no direct connection to anime), I gain time-burning binary codes.

Your metaphor would've been accurate if I said:
"I use to go into stores and take anime-DVDs without paying"
But I dont

You are using a product without paying for it. You just said it my metaphor would work if i said you were stealing .

And yes it is a long chain still does not make your part in it any less significant.
