I don't know what other people might think, but sometimes I wonder, if mangas are really just fictional and how much they lean on the reality. since most mangas play in japan, I kind of think japanese people are like that (at least a bit) too.

But is it really like that?

Sometimes I feel kind of strange, coz everybody seems to be overdramatic when it comes to indirect kiss or god knows what.

At my former school for example, there were couples everywhere. They also kissed and so on. I mean it kind of bothered me, but nobody said anything. If anybody kisses somebody in a manga(or anime) it seems to be the most outrageous thing ever.

Do you know what I mean?

What is your opinion?

I think the genre that best reflects real life in manga or anime is "Slice of Life". <stating the obvious>

Seriously though, we have what we call socio-cultural differences. Since anime and manga were created in Japan, most of the storyline and character behavior were influenced by Japanese customs.

^ manga/anime do tend to exaggerate, we can all agree with that. It's true though that <most> old folk wear the same clothes the next morning. <like uniforms>

It's pretty common for people in America to kiss, but it might not be as common in Japan.
I know in India, it's pretty much not supposed to happen.
I mean, the movies have pretty much everything BUT kissing. EVERYTHING.
I've only heard of one movie where they showed the kiss (forgot the name) and that was SCANDALOUS.

In manga and anime, the story is unique, but some are kind of odd though... Because sometimes they are exaggerating it...
The similarities they have is, the characters sometimes goes late on school...^^..Just like ordinary lives...Maybe in some shojo..

In real life, sometimes it is boring, then it will become exciting...

Eh? When some couple kisses in our school, it will always be a big issue. Since our school is a private catholic school. And some things like kissing tend to make the whole school fuss about it, like in the case of some manga that you are describing. But anyway, mangakas do tend to look at reality and make it into something through their works. They do get their ideas from reality too.

in a shoujo manga there's a lot of skinship and not only that... a guy and a girl kissesin public which is if it is in reality it would be a big buzz the next day, people with negative reactions even friends will pop out! and you'll have a bad reputation with so much pda...something like that.. and also in manga men shows teary eyes which if in our school he woud be considered as a gay or what and that's a minus points for girls but in manga and anime its a plus points... so the reality i don't know but manga scenes have a high possibility to happen..lol

i see. well in our school it didn't really happen that guys cried. but they wouldn't be gay.. GOD! my class was strange... we were 11 guys and 2 girls in my last year(went to a grammar school) and our boys really seemed gay sometimes they kind of immitated sex of gay people and so too, they were just so childish.. but I kind of found it funny too sometimes.. I tell you.. sometimes I think japanese people visiting our class would have banned us xD haha

I think you may find it's more of a culture thing than a manga thing, obviously manga isn't always realistic though.

I can confirm that in Australia we don't get all hyped up when someone tries to give you a can of softdrink they already drank from, we normally throw it in the bin because we don't like spreading hep B and herpes.
