before in my old school you couldn't kiss in public, and when they found out you did then your parents would be called and the couple would be asked to break up. harsh huh?

anyway on topic, yeah, mangas or animes are a tad bit exaggerated but it does show a lot of japanese culture in it.

I think you may find it's more of a culture thing than a manga thing, obviously manga isn't always realistic though.

I can confirm that in Australia we don't get all hyped up when someone tries to give you a can of softdrink they already drank from, we normally throw it in the bin because we don't like spreading hep B and herpes.

really? well if i know the person it "comes" from then I drink of it, and it's certainly no big deal in our country.

Herpes and Hep B don't always have visable symptoms!

I didn't grow up in Japan, but I would think (based on shows from various countries) that the way people act is pretty close to how it actually is. Of course anime/manga are going to over-exaggerate reality since they're meant to entertain, but the underlying actions and mannerisms are similar to reality. Comparing anime to American cartoons, anime is a lot more similar to real life. Even though I live over here in the U.S., I can still relate to the characters. The way that they think and act are similar to how I think and act. Of course it's not exactly the same (especially the ones with super crazy reactions), but it's definitely similar. It could be because I grew up with mostly Asians and because I'm a Nikkei though.

It's tough for someone who doesn't know anything about a particular culture to know exactly what's true and what's not. Think about how American movies portray Americans. Not everyone in the U.S. is like the people you see in the movies. There are some truths behind what is carried out in the movies, but there are also exaggerations. Think about your own country and the shows/movies that are local to you. It should be similar with anime/manga.

Not sure if I'm making any sense, but that's my opinion.

There are hardly any shows/movies about Austria. So I can't really compare it.. but thx for your answer.

.....what else could a couple do?? pretty sure most schools have couples...i think that some animes exaggerate the whole "kiss" thing, because i know plenty of japanese girls which came from japan and i dont think they're all that shy about kissing??? i mean, what else could a guy and a girl do? From past experience, im sure than girls like kisses, its not a big deal, people like skinship....but then again, im a college student....u dont just kiss....
