Set up a fundraiser with a bake sale or yard sale. Ask your friends or neighbors to donate stuff for you to sale. What are you're going to do in Japan? If it's something that helps out the needy people will donate money for you if you ask them.

Me and three of my friends want to do a foreign exchange trip to Japan for a month in the summer of 2010. The trip cost $7,300 per person. In total, we'll need $29,200. how can four 15 year-olds make this kind of money? We're open to anything! (anything legal that is)

Edit: I live in Minnesota

$7,300 per person for just one month?

That's a lot of money.

I would rather keep that for college tuition or for emergency. Definitely, for emergency.

What can you accomplish in Japan in one month anyway? I only see leisure, not education in this case.

well, it's a month is summer, and the price includes air fair, lodging, and food. so it's really not that bad of a deal. and yes, it is pretty much for fun

It might be best to discuss with your parents to get a loan from the bank or school grant. Additionally, start saving, and work part time when you are able to. Starting planning early with adults who are more familiar with finances will be a better choice than trying to raise the money alone. Plan for your itinerary to know how much you will need to spend there with emergency reserves. Although I suggest you wait for the value of yen to rise again for better exchange rate.

I hope you guys aren't going there by yourselves. You will need a good grasp of Japanese and understanding of their culture to roam freely in Japan.

(what a lot of people generalize about the japanese people here aren't true, although i wouldn't say that the japanese people are all accepting or have some sort of perverse agenda. You might find when you are there that they don't really know how/want to interact with you, thus they don't.)

(deleted spam btw)

The program is meant for kids 15 - 18, and your always chaperoned, according to the web sight. so no, we won't be alone.
