About that huge post from Wikipedia that was posted, the Telomere theory, is one that was taught in my Biology class, or one that is at the very least mentioned, in High School. The whole idea is that, on the end of the chromosomes, also known as our DNA, there is this unused "buffer" zone, otherwise known as useless, material. This is called the telomere. As the cells replicate, bits from the ends are cut off. Since we have these telomeres, what is lost is generally useless material, stuff that will not affect us at all. As we get too old, our telomeres start to run out and we begin to lose bits and pieces of our DNA. This results in cell mutation, deteriation and cell death. That is basically the Telomere theory, I tried to say it in a way that isn't too complicated and it's the one that I personally believe.
