I think the quality is good but i am wondering what resolution your 720p video specifically is. I've noticed when viewing the 720p content on my monitor at a 1440x900 resolution the video extends off the side of the screen and fills up the screen vertically. Since that is the case, it would mean that you are in fact not using a 720p resolution but a higher resolution. The only resolution that I can see you using is 1440×1080 which is actually classified as 1080i not 720p. It would make more sense to use a true 720p resolution like the ATSC standard 1280x720 or the WXGA 1366×768. With lowering the resolution to a true 720p resolution you will have the ability to increase quality of video and have the same file size. Hope this helps!

I'm disappointed actually, I was hoping this would be better quality than the stuff dattebayo had been putting out.

But the quality of the video streaming just isn't cutting it.

I have a decent machine:
Core2 6300 @ 1.86GHz (2 CPUs), ~1.9GHz
8190MB RAM
Radeon 4870 (512MB)

and a killer internet connection: 5Mbps up 20Mbps down FIOS

Higher res is great, but not unless the player can handle it. I can play higher quality video on my machine, but whatever flash app you're using dies (becomes really choppy) under all of that I/O pressure. So at high res switching to full screen mode is out of the question.

There is something quick you could do though. To me, it's really important to see just the video with a black background. So if there was a "full screen at original size/100% zoom mode" it would really improve my viewing experience. All you'd need to do is letterbox both vertically and horizontally.

Obviously I'd rather have fullscreen 720P at 1920 x 1200, and this machine should be able to do that, no problem.... but the workaround is better than what we have today. I have to watch in 480P (or less) to get non-choppy video. Maybe the right solution is changing the way you do compression... I'm not sure.

I'm paying for this subscription to support the anime industry... but if this is all you have to deliver... I'd be happier with the fansub. Doing the "Right Thing" (as a customer who pays) must be rewarded by higher quality... otherwise we'll just get what's already available "for free".

The quality of the translation is okay, but I liked DB's approach better. A lot of the industry folks said that it was "unprofessional" but those cultural explanations are super valuable to someone who isn't a native speaker but still wants to get all the jokes. Image

the new HD footage is amazing! Good job! Glad to see all the internet video sites are stepping it! I remember the first ones to ever have it were DIVX and Vimeo!

I had exactly the same problem as you did, but the newest episode of Naruto (95) worked fine, because they decided to make the fullscreen-mode better with those black borders. I just hope they'll do the same thing with every other anime series in here, because at least Tower of DRUAGA is still stuttering..
