But Vampire Knight is just awesome, I love the story and I'm happy they didn't finish off the manga yet and always hoping for a 3rd season to come out. |

So I've been reading this serious for a while now, (yes I prefer the manga over the anime) and I've taken alot from Matsuri Hino's creation. While many people have degraded this series to a sad fangirly comparison of Twilight, I believe that this work has alot more depth to it. And art. So I applaud those who think more of this series than "OOH! HAWT GUYZ!" or "OOOH! VAMPIREZ!!!11".
First off I want to applaud the mangaka for her splendid decision in names. For example, Kaname's name means "door", for it is his decisions that highly control the paths the other characters are taking. He has an incredible amount of luck with fate currently at his side, and he will open the 'door' to a new age. Zero's name shows how though he was a favored child, in the end he has fallen into the routine of escaping nothingness. Unlike Kaname the 'door', Zero has anything but favor and instead is turning away from the call of fate. The world is against him, and he perpetually has nothing for himself. But Yuuki's name is the most meaningful of all: Princess. The title of this story confused me at first, being "Vampire Knight", but over time it has been made clear that the "Princess" will have to determine who her true Knight In Shining Armor is, whether it be what destiny decides (Kaname) or clearing her own path (Zero). On the topic of 'fate' and 'free will', I admire how much these torn beliefs are shown in this story. In the beginning we see Yuuki's strive to turn the course of fate as she helps Zero slow the fall to Level E. Then we see her and Kaname, who chose her from birth as a pureblood bride. He was there in the beginning for her, and now as purebloods they could potentially be there in the end for eachother. Zero and Kaname throughout the story are contrasting situations. Fate and Free Will. Kaname and Zero. In illustrations they are commonly shown wearing opposite shades, i.e. black and white. So as the Princess, Yuuki has to choose what direction she wants to take. And so she has to discern from her knight's, the vampires that she loves. (And oh, I do not believe she has decided yet, for those who believe she has already chosen. This manga series is far from over as stated by Matsuri Hino, so I believe the madness will indeed continue...) If you guys start ranting at eachother about Zero and Kaname and who's better, you're sad. Just support what you love and love it full heartedly. Love shouldn't bring on hate. So, based on my analysis, I support Zero being with Yuuki (I'm a total free will person!), but unfortunately I always seem to be going against canon in other series so I'm hoping for this one I made the correct decision. |

QFT @ Above poster. I think that is why I dislike Twilight, but I adore VK. It isn't apparent, but there are many hidden meanings and hints. I like Kaname's obsession with the white knight on his chess board. In the anime, he is constantly seen with the board, always messing with the white knight stepped forth on the board before all others. But I thought Yuki meant snow or courage, and Hime is princess. Both make sense to me, since she was found in the snow, and there is a mild infatuation with snow in the series.
I don't believe in the Kaname vs. Zero thing... character wise and relationship wise, I think the story could go either way and despite both of their dark sides, they both love Yuuki unconditionally. Sure, Zero can be an ass, but he's got a loyal heart, despite his stubbornness. Same goes for Kaname, he may be a bit scary, but he'd never hurt Yuuki... everything he does is for her. And as long as people don't jeopardize her safety, it's all good! But there is no telling who she'll end with... it seems being with Kaname would be too convenient, but will Zero stick to his word? And it also depends on how he deals with his vampire-side. I'm truly neutral here haha. If I could make my own prediction (this might tick off Kaname fans), I Kaname is going to eventually ask Yuuki to kill him, or it's going to resort to a point that he is such an empty shell that Yuuki can sense a lack of desire to live (aside from being with her... which I'm sure she'd feel guilty for). I'm not talking "If I were to be killed, I'd want you to be the one to do it", although he has said that. But I just happened to notice a few things as I read and watched. I think aside from Yuuki and running the vampire society, he probably doesn't have too much of a will to live. I think the series gives minor hints to it later on in the story. Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide First the assumption that their parents committed suicide because they simply had nothing else to gain in life, then Yuuki offering her services to kill vampires who no longer wish to live, then Kaname stating that he sat in his coffin, assuming and hoping that his life was over, wishing to die, but never getting his wish granted. And Yuuki's frustration as she realizes that no matter how close to two become and how much she accepts him and the things he's done, he still doesn't look an ounce happier. And I see what they did there... Mamoru Miyano voices Zero in the Japanese version and Vic Mignogna is going to voice him in the English version. Mamoru Miyano also does Tamaki from Ouran High School Host Club, and Vic voices Tamaki in the English version as well. |

I wasn't really sure where to post this so I decided here was good as anything.
I want to make the dress from Chapter 53-56 (good image on it at the beginning of Chapter 55) I'm planning on using it for a formal con ball. I just don't know what color it is Does it say anywhere or could some give me a guess on what color it is? I tried looking through the pages but can't seem to find a reference to what color it is. Please, thank you and sorry for the randomness of this post. I just figured someone here would know. |

i love vampire knight, and not in the 'oh my god... Vampires!' kind of way. i dislike it when people lower it to the same class as something like twilight, especially when there is so much more to it. the depth of the plot and all its mysteries keeps your attention and you are constantly guessing at what could happen next. Matsuri hino has put so much time and thought into this work, from it's beautiful drawings to it's cleverness (such as the meanings behind each persons name and even the title of the series).
I have read the fanbook also and found out so much. you can really see the effort put into the drawings, the sketches for the uniforms support this alone. i only hope that as the series goes on some of the characters could be developed further. for example rima, though she is one of my favorite characters not much is known about her and she hasn't really played a major part. so many people slander this character as only being shiki's lackey and always following him around, that in itself makes her boring and unimportant. it is characters like these that could be given more consideration. however, overall i love this manga and it's mangaka and is most certainly my favorite. although i prefer the manga to the anime i still wish they would make a third series. |

Is there really going to be a Season 3? Somehow, I'm doubtful.. After Yuuki turns into a vampire, everything seems so muddled up.
