What would happen if Sora had never gotten hit by that truck? (A depressing deux ex machina, though I have to say, I do like Seiya better)
I personally think Sora actually liked Akane, and Akane subconsciously liked Sora.
Why else would Sora prod Daichi towards his feelings? If he really liked Najika romantically, then chances are, he wouldn't purposely initiate a rival's feelings, even if it was his brother.
If Sora hadn't gotten hit by that truck, I would wager that he and Akane would have gotten together. There was a scene after he died in volume 6 where Fujita says Sora died because he wanted to help fulfill Najika's dreams (Not necessarily that he was in love with her) and Akane has this really sad expression. I know Sora, Daichi and Akane were childhood friends, but maybe there might have been a little more chemistry than what was really let on?
Plus, in volume 4, it's hinted that Sora called Akane/Akane called Sora before Sora sent all the gifts. I know it's because of the whole watch business, but they were probably a lot closer than we really saw.
Although I have to say, I like Seiya/Akane better than any other couple. I mean, don't get me wrong, Daichi/Najika is sweet, but if I had to choose..

What do you think? Who did Sora like, in your opinion? Which is your favorite couple? How would Kitchen Princess have ended differently if Sora hadn't gotten hit by that truck?

Well, Sora does admit he does like Najika, but there's never any inclination that says it's a romantic 'like'. He just says "That day, I probably already liked you." And in volume 5, he never gives Najika a direct answer either, just saying that she was an important person to him. The reason he wanted to have been her flan prince, the way I look at it, is because he wanted to be the one to protect her.
And Akane hasactually dealt more with death than Najika. I know Najika had lost her parents when she was really young, but that's the thing. She did have memories, but Akane had gone through the same thing when her grandmother died, though it might have been worse because since she never had a strong homelife, it was most likely harder for her when her grandmother died. And plus, Akane was a little hardened after that because pretty much everyone saw her as a beautiful perfect model, and she didn't have any true affection towards anyone. Which is partly why she liked Daichi so much, because he was one of the ones who actually saw through her at that time. Of course, another reason, I think that was true was because of the whole family situation Daichi had, which made her overprotective.
And Sora actually did prod Daichi's feelings, in volume 4, after the whole confronting Akane about the watch thing. He says, "You were irritated, huh? You really don't get it? Why you were bothered by this whole thing?". That's pretty much what gets Daichi thinking the most...
And did anyone else notice how the first thing Sora asks about after Daichi and Najika reconcile is if she could forgive Akane?
I always saw that Sora liked Akane, but he knew she liked Daichi so he was jealous of him because of that. That was my fantasy from the very beginning, before Seiya came in.

I actually think even if Sora hadn't died, Najika and Daichi still would have gotten together... I know Najika was quote on quote in love with Sora, but I always saw it as an infatuation. Plus, part of it was because he told her he was the flan prince. And in the first volume, she reflects on how she always said what she felt with Daichi (Something like that).
Of course, without Seiya, the series wouldn't have been nearly as interesting.

Let's just come up with the conclusion that Seiya makes the series more interesting then xD.
And Sora's too obscure and mysterious for us to figure out.

well Sora did really like her cause if you read the part where Sora and Najika talk when Sora got hit by the truck he said he has grown to love her more and more as he got to know her and if he did get hit by the truck I know three things for sure:
1. najika would have won the competition
2. Sora and najika would still be together
3. Daichi would keep his feelings for Najika a secret still and they would never end up together
