- partial/entire loss of social life
- addiction
- damage to eyesight
- gradual consumption of money (if it is a F2P online game)
- lack of proper sleep due to addiction
- declining school grades

**most of these are from (over-)addiction

will say things like lol and pvp in real life (irl) if they play to much. i actually know a guy who does that, and often says things like "lol i pvp irl. i pwnd u noob". so damn annoying. probably why he has no friends. obviously stuf like that only happens if you are stupid and world of warcraft all day every day and would rather do that than hang out with friends (and once again i know guys who have said no to going out because they had plans to play world of warcraft). oh and you become like my computer science teacher (a very bad thing to be)

I use to play Starcraft aaalllll the time online when I was younger, then my parents made me stop

My friend is obsessed with WOW. It's quite sad, actually. He is never online (it's been about a year or two since I've been able to talk to him online) and when I see him when he is home on break (He goes to college a few hours away so I don't see him much) he just sits there and plays it some more.

I also had a friend, who had to stop because his GF was threatening to break up with him if he didn't.
And another who broke up with his girlfriend because she wouldn’t stop.

Gosh...

-Will start using acronyms more often in real life
-Girlfriend will leave you because of addiction
-You will become broke due to all the money you put into the game
-All relationships outside of the game will deteriorate until your former friends hate you
-You will see a signifigant increase in the amount of Hot pockets you buy per month
-If ever in a conversation outside of the game, it will be the topic of conversation anyways
-You will start complain alot and or cry about nerfs to your class in patches
-You tend to get high strung and many things will irritate you

Lets see...Effects, huh? Well I guess I would have to say that in my experience I have experienced lack of sleep, dreaming of the game (as if I was still playing) while sleeping, hearing a sound in real life and instantly being reminded of something in the game (also works with music - leads to game music getting stuck in my head), and some other nice little things...In short minor addiction...

Nothing like a real game-addiction...

Not THAT is a REAL addiction...Note that Ethan bi-monthly support group as a result of his Everquest addiction... However, things might be changing a bit for poor Ethan...

i prefer stand alone flatform games instead of MMORPG.
1. MMORPG costs way too much time
2. Costly sometimes buying credits n` stuff online
3.MMORPG have a great social interactions through other players, but once you get bored with the game then what?
4.if you get bored with the standalone game and decided to quit you wont loose anything like the money youve spent on items...
