I think, to be fair, it is the instincts of parents to protect their children from anything they perceive to be harmful. Then again, we who watch anime must also play an important part and be responsible for our own actions. Cosplay is accepted in many country as a hobby but if we have a lot of people started wearing anime character's clothing and doing crazy stunts that affects society, then the anime is perceive to be a bad influence and would definitely be taken away. A student brought a gun into school and start killing people. The parents will blame the online game he played. See the point? It is always inter-related and actions would be taken.

I don't think you can complain with good reasoning until you become older and possibly have kids. And why shouldn't they make the decision when they are doing it for you and they're the reason why you're not starving and sleeping in the street?

well thats true.......but parents now days over react way to much.....but thats just the way i see things

I dunno about that. Kids used to get hit when they used to talk back to their parents at all back in the day. You'd have to eat dinner with your family at the dinner table, not able to wear certain types of clothes, can't use any profanity, etc. It's a lot easier to get away with things now. Also, corporal punishment happens a lot less. I think parent/child relationships are getting more complicated; but I think things are getting a lot more relaxed for kids in terms of freedom. We have way more freedom than we used to. Especially with the internet. Where else but the internet do you find a 10 year old arguing with a 40 year old? lol

because American parents are lazy, and use the TV as a baby sitter. Because they don't spend time with their kids the kids learn from TV's. Parents being pissed off complain.

Solutions?
change the baby sitter (change the channel or actually hire a real one)

or actually spend time with your kids to explain to them what is real or not...don't blame TV blame your own parenting

Well the main part about violent anime/media and videogames is that there are fictional and we all agree that their fun. However because people who see games as reality and start storming schools and killing others is the main reason why parents worry that their kids will turn up that way and become to influenced and become desensitzed to violence by it.
I do play alot of violent videogames like bioshock and Gta 4 and my mom does scold me when she sees me shoot a person in the head but she says "You better remember that all videogames are fictional so you wouldn't do that in real life" so yeh my main point is that violence is a bad thing but it depends on the persons understanding of reality and fiction.

My lil bro acts all tough after watching the cartoons/anime. He tries to hit me, punch me, kick me if he doesnt get his way. How do i know its from watching animes/cartoons? He uses phrases from them and "attack moves"

Ofcourse he never beats me

But yeah i had to have a serious long talk about how he is very close to crazy to get him to stop.

So he's the type of person who memorizes Naruto hand? things? and uses them?

Ok as a mother of 2 I have allowed my children to watch violence and blood not to graphicly when they are little if ........that violence had a message i wanted my children to understand the world isnt a fairytale world
I have been under attack from people for allowing this but then i have also been under attack for allowing my 5 yr old to watch get this........ dinosaur aand lion king PG stupid people

i always watched the movies and series like buffy/angel before hand and was always there to explain any concept they didnt understand gives me a reason to be able to watch anime tv series and movies without the peers arguing your to old to watch all that lol first you to young for it then you to old its all BS my basic rule for my kids was if your too scared turn it off was I brought up the same way

my kids are not violent people they are teens now i and I am far from violent I abhore personal violence i use videos to relieve my instinctual violent nature which everyone has I watch violence with a message ..I dont like slashem ups that have no message just pure violence tends to bore me

my kids are smart and quite able to explain their violent feeling without resorting to actual violence 97% of the time........they know right from wrong and have a great sense of justice so.......watching violence isnt the key theyre looking for to the minds of 1 in 3mill people who have unstable violent minds

I dont agree on under 10s access to voilence without parental guidence but over 10s if you have guided properly theyd be ok ... theyre smart enough to know more about the new world than some adults
they already should have a sense of right and wrong of what they like and what they dont ,and what they believe and have a voice to say so and be listened to if these are not already in motion by the time theyre 10 the damage has already been done and only time and a great lot of personal pain on all sides can set everyone back on the road of societies belief in how a person should be ......pfft says me whos the most non violent anti social person i know and always has been i prefer a great anime or movie to a party of people i hardy know or to interact on the net than the personal interaction

people lead people to violence not tv / movies /music/anime well thats my belief and until i see otherwise im happy with my antisocial status plus i got my good buds on crunchyroll facebook and net games to chat to
all things that a 42 yr old mother of 2 should have grown out of so society says.... anime .. gack fangirl netgames and gothrock/jrock/mucic sheesh other people my age are boring

No hand seals or stuff like that. He can't be bothered with that kinda stuff...it was like 3-4 years ago, he's grown out of anime.

In order to resolve this crisis, we must go kill off the parents that complain.

No blood? How will they explain that to their daughter once she starts to get her monthly bloody days?

All this censorship is made for pussies who can't take it on with things who are naturally part of our lives, like blood, violence, sex, and other stuff.

There are people now complaining about the chastity of a few anime shows, or photos being posted onto this forum board. All of them are above 40 and deem loli anime as child porn. Great, learn the definitions of your words you use before you start spluttering nonsense.

Lolicon animes are only considered as paedophilia if you deem them as such. Why, seriously, why does everybody today think that when a child is being shown in TV with just pants and a T-shirt on that this is...child porn?

Stupid.

I replied to my mother that this would not happen.
She never listen to what i said.
I think parents want to protect us from harm.
Parents are worried about us.
But still i something like anime with blood depend on the situation.

That may not be all about the anime though. My brother would get mad if he lost a game and throw things at me(like a metal truck), but we didn't watch any anime or violent shows at that time. The most he watched was Tom and Jerry. He also used to hit my other brother, pull my hair, punch and hit me in the stomach. My nephew have tantrums where they hit people but they're also four boys who like to rough house. There are a lot of factors that contribute to violence, I don't think you can pin it to just anime. I also think that they should put anime like that on adult swim. I mean my family had no problem making sure I didn't watch things I wasn't suppose to. To put this into greater prospective, I have seven brothers and sisters, and we were not allowed to watch anything that would deprive us of our moral values. I guess it just depends who you are. My brother was just predisposed to act angrily if he doesn't get his way. Although, I'm not trying to diminish what your brother does as wrong and perhaps anime is the problem. I suppose he probably would get really mad if you forced him not to watch it, but that is what I would suggest.
