Don't get me wrong, I lurve RPGs. But aren't A LOT of J-RPGs almost the exact same?

There are waaaaay too many of them and a lot of them aren't even worth playing. Honestly, I haven't seen an original one in like 3 years. They get waaaay to repetitive after a while.

Thoughts/Opinions?

I'm personally getting more uninterested in them. I think there needs to be more platformers. It's dying as a genre.

I agree. Banjo-Kazooie and its sequel Banjo-Tooie were fantastic. The N64 was platformer heaven.

Well i honestly think Oblivion was more fit to be a MMO. You should try Fable and Fable 2 (considered a Western RPG although its European). Fables has a better single player feel to it. like Oblivion should have been.

Edit: Jrpg's havent been original for quite a while, especially Final Fantasy. But I still have some Jrpgs to finish.
Infinite Undiscovery and Last remnant to be precise. the most recent one i liked was Lost Odyssey.

On Topic: I think the reason it feels like its dying is because it seems like Sony's PS3 has abandoned what its predecessor the PS2 was the master of last generation...JRPG'S! now sony is focusing on FPS games, most likely because they want to mimic 360's success of Halo and Gears of War.

most of them probably aren't innovative, but they sure are fun. just take the persona series or dragon quest.

can't because thats impossible...the biggest difference they can make, is a different battle system and different looking characters with different names.

although they're still fun to me. but my favorite genre is Action like Ninja Gaiden

Aren't all RPG's typical and boring anyway?
They always have been pretty much like that - story wise.
Though I really liked Baten Kaitos.
