I mainly decided to create this thread seeing as though many users on CR don't quite understand stepmania abbreviations as well as terms. Hopefully once you read through this, you'll finally understand what we stepmaniers are talking about in the forums, lol.

I shall only cover the typical Keyboard file basics. Pad file basics can be clearly explained thoroughly with detail via this link:

ABBREVIATIONS

CB - Stands for "Combo Breaker". Combined number of Goods, Boos and/or Misses in a score.

Examples:
** Spoiler Alert!!! click to hide or show**

A score with a low CB count. There are a total of 6 CBs in this score therefore qualifies as a "Single Digit CB" or "SDCB" because the CB count is within 0-9.

** Spoiler Alert!!! click to hide or show**

A score with a high CB count. There are a total of 42 CBs in this score.

MA - Stands for "Marvelous Attack". Another similar term would be "Fantastic Attack" or "FA". Basically, your Marvelous count and accuracy. The higher the Marvelous count, the better.

Examples:

A score with good MA. Notice the Marvelous vs. Perfect ratio.

** Spoiler Alert!!! click to hide or show**

A score with bad MA. Notice the abnormally high Perfect, Great and CB count vs. Marvelous count.

MS - Stands for "Machine Score". Basically, the amount of points earned after playing a file.

Examples:

A score with an abnormally high MS despite the MA and CB counts.

** Spoiler Alert!!! click to hide or show**

A score with an abnormally low MS despite the MA and CB counts.

PA - Stands for "Perfect Attack". Basically, your Perfect count. the lower it is, the better.

Examples:

A score with good PA however Marvelous, Great and CB counts are high in comparison.

A score with bad PA. Perfect count is abnormally high in comparison to Marvelous, Great and CB count.

SDG - Stands for "Single Digit Great". Great count must be between 0-9 in order to qualify as a SDG.

Examples:

A score that qualifies as a SDG. Great count is within 0-9.

** Spoiler Alert!!! click to hide or show**

A score that does not qualify as a SDG. Great count is over 9.

SDP - Stands for "Single Digit Perfect". Perfect count must be between 0-9 in order to qualify as a SDP.

Examples:

A score that qualifies as a SDP. Perfect count is within 0-9.

A score that does not qualify as a SDP. Perfect count is over 9.

TERMINOLOGY

Jumps - Simultaneously hitting two arrows at once.

Example:

All possible jump combinations.

Hands - Simultaneously hitting three or more arrows at once.

Examples:

All possible three arrow hand combinations.

** Spoiler Alert!!! click to hide or show**

Four arrow hands. Also known as "Quads".

Jackhammers - Also known as "Jacks". Continuously hitting a single arrow or combination of arrows for a period of time.

Examples:

Long jacks. Hitting a single arrow continuously for a long period of time.

** Spoiler Alert!!! click to hide or show**

Mini-jacks. Hitting a single arrow continuously for only a short period of time.

Jumpjacks. Hitting two arrows simultaneously and continuously for a period of time.

** Spoiler Alert!!! click to hide or show**

Handjacks. Hitting three or more arrows simultaneously and continuously for a period of time.

Quadjacks. Hitting all four arrows simultaneously and continuously for a period of time. Also classifies as a "Handjack".

Stream - Basic rhythmic patterns involving all four arrows.

Examples:

8th Stream.

12th Stream.

16th Stream.

Jumpstream - Streams with jumps in them. Abbreviation for this is "JS".

8th Jumpstream.

16th Jumpstream.

Handstream - Streams with hands in them. Abbreviation for this is "HS".

Example:

Trills - Hitting the same two arrows for a period of time.

Jump-trills - Involves hitting two arrows simultaneously but in a trill-like form.
