When do ppl lose their Heart's Egg? Ikuto mentioned that people break it themselves, but... how old can you be? Is it as long as you have a dream? I mean, think about it:
-Yuu Nikaidou still has his apparently
-Yukari Sanjo still has hers too I guess
-Even Nobuko Saeki has hers, and she's 54!

What do you think?? It's kinda of confusing. (Oh yeah- Nobuko says she's 54 in Chapter 11, I think. The first Chapter of Volume 3)

Does that mean Ran, Miki, Su, and Dia will disappear then? If Amu's dream is complete? (What is it, anyway?)

Well, I guess once she finds her would be self, they will disappear. I mean they were there to help her find her would be self right? So, I think they will disappear after that since that's why they are there xD

Yeah it would be =/. It makes it even sadder since Ikuto will be all alone without Yoru.

But by that time, Ikuto might have Amu!

I think it goes back to when Nagihiko was talking to Tadase about why Shugo Chara appear. There are people who feel that they are incomplete or lacking something [Amu and Tadase], and then there are people who want to make themselves better/change [Kukai and Yaya].

For example, Amu desires to be herself, and her charas are her would-be potential, so, theoretically, there could be two parts. One, her charas will stay with her until Amu's would-be potential becomes her real potential, or two, her charas will stay with her until Amu's would-be self becomes a reality. For someone like Tadase, the chara would disappear when Tadase feels that he has become confident enough. Obviously, he will never rule the world! For Nagihiko, who categorized himself in this group, his chara will probably vanish when he is completely at peace with being both a boy and a girl.

In the case of someone like Kukai or Yaya, the chara would disappear when they have found what they want to be. Example, Daichi was created when Kukai wanted to be the best he could be at sports. When Kukai feels that he has become the best, i.e. when his ultimate potential is reached, Daichi will disappear. For Yaya, Pepe came about because Yaya wanted to be a baby forever. Pepe will likely disappear when Yaya becomes more mature (and no longer wants to be a child).

So, what does that mean if they never get to that point? I think it's not about the chara disappearing, and I think a heart egg will never completely vanish. Let's take Amu as an example - when she realizes her would-be potential and becomes her would-be self, Ran, Miki, Suu, and Dia will most likely return to their eggs and then go back inside of Amu. At this point, they wouldn't be her would-be potential, they'd be her real potential - so they'd go back to where they belong. I think the only time that they would really disappear is if Amu gave up on her would-be potential/would-be self and her eggs were crushed or broken.

Bottom line is, despite one of the more popular theories, I think it has less to do with age and more to do with the reason why the chara was created in the first place.

i think the heart egg is in place to help the human if it's needed like amu who needed help she wished and her charas were born because she needed them same with the rest but for different reasons... they disappear because the human doesnt need the help or doesnt believe they can b helped, that wat ever they were dreaming came true or they gave up

regardless adults think they cant b helped that its impossible for such things to exist.... children believe they can because of the positive influences around them and that the world is a wonderous place... their belief and dreams manifest as would be selfs/heart eggs
