Its not like we support illegal distribution, its because anime is not aired in my region and its either in English dub or some other horrid language. Not to mention a new episode is costly due to conversion and import tax. Distribution of new episodes is slow and its just pointless to buy new episodes one after another when you're only going to watch it once. If anime companies wish to survive in places other than the US, they ought to team up with various networks, if not people will just continue to rely on illegal distribution.

Privacy may ruin the market but at least its cheap and fast.
