Anime was the first thing that initiated my interest in going to japan, but being the realist I am
I did lots of research on the customs and history of the land of the red sun...anime made me like japan
, but Japan itself made me fall in love with the culture and the country.

To be honest, yes. The only Japanese things that I'm really interested in are anime-related things and the great food there. I'm not as interested in general Japanese culture all that much. There are a lot of cultures in the world that I find a lot more interesting than Japan's (it's a matter of personal taste), and there are a lot of places that I'd rather visit before I ever get around to traveling to Japan.

I'm pretty sure it's interesting for people to visit Japan out of curiosity of their culture. I see Anime as entertainment.
But Japan itself is not only Anime. It's much more to do there, some friend of mine told me they are very disciplined in Japan.
But i'm very interested in visiting it one day aswell.

No. I've always been interested in Japanese stuff.
Like since I was Japanese food was like the best thing ever, and right now I've become really interested in Japans fashion sense.

If I ever went to Japan, it would probably be because I love the language, and I'd literally want to raid every konbini that I see and just stack up on piles of Japanese snacks and bento shit.

I went to Japan in high school to play in a music festival and it was a pretty good time. My favorite things to do there were going to the arcade and doing karaoke in one of those cool karaoke establishments.

We got run way too ragged though so I wasn't able to take the time to appreciate it as much as I would have liked. Walking 10 miles to visit as many temples as we could in a day isn't my ideal vacation. Not to mention I had to still have enough energy to play my trombone. By the time I'd get back to my host family I'd just want to sleep, but they'd keep me up until the middle of the night doing weird stuff like going out to play basketball. My host brother was in his high schools basketball club, and I guess they assumed that since I was a skinny 6'4 white kid that I was a baller

At that stage of my life (age 17) my only real anime influences were things like Gundam Wing and Dragonball Z. Nothing particularly culturally significant enough to make me obsess over everything Japanese.

Now that it's about 10 years later and I've grown into a massive otaku who loves all of the slice of life sort of anime, and can recognize hundreds of phrases just from the countless hours I spend reading subtitles. I wouldn't mind going back again to take in the sights with a fresh perspective- going about sight seeing with a much more leisurely place.

So I'd say that yeah I probably only want to go back to Japan because of anime. It at least gives me a renewed interest.

when I was younger, I wanted to go to Japan just for the video arcades. The anime was just a bonus. Then the music was another bonus.

To visit Japan is one of my lifetime wish. I want to see for myself their culture, try out their food, and also experience some of their festivals if at all possible. So my wish to go to Japan someday isn't limited to anime. From the way I see it, watching anime is more of a catalyst for my desire to visit the country. It's really more of a gateway and an eye-opener towards anything related to Japan.
