Was actually a fan of japanese culture first, and kind of discovered anime and manga through that

I'd like to go there.. but it was purely influenced by watching Anime. BUT, After looking at the country through books and learning a bit of their language (the language is beautiful) I decided I would like to go there, maybe next year if I could raise 2000 pounds haha, but still I know Japan is totally different then from Anime itself. Plus the Japanese chicks are hot, so that helps the sight if I go there

Nope. Japan in anime does not resemble Japan in reality.

I'd love to go to Japan, half because of anime and the other half to do with their culture. I've always been interested in Japanese culture and also lifestyle :3

Living outside of the SF Bay Area in California i used to stand on Ocean Beach and Stare out to sea Towards Japan. Knowing that there is something there some reason i have to go. 40 years old now and still trying to get there. so before i die I have to go and see Mt Fuji with my own eyes. i need to walk the length of country.

I've always wanted to go to Japan because of my Japanese childhood friend, Aya, who would tell me stories about her living there. I was amazed by the culture and then eventually after I moved she gave me a few of her mangas and anime tapes and that's when I fell in love with anime but I have to say I want to go to Japan for a new experience and because of my admiration for the culture.

I've been fortunate enough to visit Japan several times, and see a number of cities, cultural landmarks, sights and sounds (and even climbed Mt. Fuji!). The country is beautiful, peaceful, and fun, and the people are wonderful too. It wasn't quite the otaku utopia I had original envisioned it as (actually, I was disappointed to find out that anime wasn't even remotely as popular in Japan as I thought), but there was so much more to Japan's culture and lifestyle that was just fantastic to take part in. I highly recommend it.

Been to Japan 7 times to visit my relatives so I didn't particularly go their for anime but I did buy things anime related and since some of my relatives are pretty rich they gave me a lot of money to spend 100,000 yen+. But while I was there I went with my cousins and childhood friend to Kyoto and Osaka to visit temples and other things. Last time I went was when I was 15 so I really want to go there again especially since I wasn't into anime as much back then as I am right now. I also miss all the fun times we used to have together. I highly recommend going to Japan its an awesome place!

I'm leaving for Japan on May 17th, I'm going to visit my brother at his base out there (little so and so got the orders I begged for while I was in) and I have to say besides visiting family I've always wanted to go to Japan to indulge my three passions, food, history and martial arts. Japan has a lot to offer on all three counts, with a rich history, passionate martial arts, and even richer food. Still going to stop in Akiba, but while I enjoy anime, it doesn't really have much to do with what interests me about Japan.
