Well, there’s a who lies the most thread about the sexes, so what about who’s the most selfish?

I like C. S. Lewis’ theory on it. He says that men and women have a different concept of what being generous is as a result of culture. He says men tend to think that being generous is in not being taxing anyone, and not taking away from anyone. Women tend to thinks its giving to someone. He says that as a result of this varying definition bother Sexes tend to think the other sex is wildly selfish. (Read Screw tape Letter, he explains it better.)

In my experience men are more selfish, just in what I’ve seen of life. But, I don’t think that’s at all true for the whole world. Just in the people I know…

EDIT: As a matter of generalization, obviously it depends on the individual.

Women are supposed to be the caregivers and "socially oriented" and shit like that, holla!

So they are the least.

Just go with it.

Oh, but i find it odd How Lewis states that generous for men is "not being taxing anyone". I tend to think generosity as involved in giving, but hell maybe I have too much estrogen running though me and my balls only dropped half way, who knows. Probably not though. So go into his reason for this more would be good.

Depends, but I think men are more selfish because well a lot of guys I know preferred a perfect girl; blond, ditzy, beautiful, hot, etc. I think plenty of women out there are selfish also. So...noth genders are selfish...? =/

You must not have been here for the "What kind of man do you want" thread. .. Chicks are -way- worse, generally speaking, about having to have some perfect lover! WAY! They want tall, dark, handsome, smart, funny, rich, with no personality flaws, bla-bla-bla. WAY worse than we are. Most men content themselves with physical perfection in women, but women want physical, mental, emotional, financial, and spiritual flawlessness in their men. Read the thread if you don’t believe me… I think that’s what it was called…Of course, that’s not all women or all men. Mostly it is a matter of the individual, but how many times to you hear guys talking about, “I don’t want to settle for the second best woman..” I’ve never once heard it. What about women, “I don’t want to settle for second best man.” Constantly.

Well, I mean in generalization. Of course both men and women can be selfish, but if you were to gather them all, add up their selfishness, which do you think would be more selfish?

You don’t seem to enthusiastic about your own presentation… :P, well, I can’t recall much of his reasoning. But it’s a good book, so you should read it. I look up some of how he backs that later on..

they are both selfish in different ways, therefore it is impossible to measure and compare it

As I said in the other thread but with a twist, selfishness is human nature, not male or female nature.

*EDIT* But you know I have to think on it a little... I know you say men in the intro, but you also say a different definition. I don't like C.S. Lewis's definition very much, because I have seen the same amount extremes in both sexes. I think selfishness has to do more with "upbringing" then "gender"

Slightly out of context but what the hell is with all the, "men vs women" threads lately?
