Top singers Rain, DBSK, Big Bang, Girls’ Generation, and Wonder Girls will join forces to promote globalization of Korean music. The 5 bands have been appointed by Minister Yoo of Ministry of Culture and Tourism, perhaps while he was having a fit of Korean Pride. The exact plan of action will be revealed on February 4th at the SM Entertainment headquarters. So far, all we know is that the groups will be working together throughout the year as leaders of the Korean music industry to globalize Korean music. Smells very JYP-ish, did he somehow infiltrate the government and take control to launch this mission?

Minister Yoo said:

“Those working in the music industry will come together with the government, in order to encourage globalization of Korean music.”

No one can be sure of what this means for our favorite bands or what the plans will include, but it seems that the government is taking an active part in spreading Korean music to different cultures. One can only hope the government is genuinely interested in using the singers to increase awareness of Korean culture rather than acting out of greed for foreign markets *cough JYP cough*

Rocket Diary? The only Korean band I know. And I'm not even really a fan. Never listened to any of those doods, though. Don't plan on doing so, either.

Meh. Tbh I think they should work on their promoting skills. I love them and all, but other than asian lovers (cough cough korean/japano-philes), korean/japanese music is not going to be successful outside their targeted audience; people who like asian music. ... u____u yeah. I don't think anything big is going to happen, most likely DBSK, SNSD, Big Bang, Wonder Girls and especially Rain will probably be ridiculed. x___x

I definitely agree with the last sentence. Sorry, but I can't imagine a real boy band like DBSK to get a warm welcome that easily.

I don't want to sound mean but wtf is up with these pop movements? I mean, is it really their long lasting dream to be recognized outside of Asia?

man the government is starting to annoy me, they try so hard to put korea culture in history then they end up failing. first they try to say confucius is korean and wanted the history books to say korea invented chinese writing system lol. now china hates us. then they say they invented sushi and samurai and airplanes lol.... japanese think we are posers. this is gonna make it worse and possibly kill off our fave bands

Why exactly do they need to be global...? I mean dude, they're already famous as it is, especially DBSK! They're already the greatest stars in all of Asia.. Im a huge fan of DBSK , but do they have to take it that far...
All I'm saying is that I don't want their feelings to get "hurt", because I dont think America is gonna 'warmly' welcome them into the music industry so great...

-i would like to see them go global, but sadly they will only have an EPIC FAIL
-if they speak/sing in english very well, then perhaps they might have a chance

phew... not being sarcastic in anyway but i think they would fail or wont get much attention...
i mean if you would look US, there are a lot differences compared with Asians...
compare with the fact that some of them are against Asians or some were racist...
add more the fact that those groups above that were mentioned arent well versed in english... Big Bang can speak english clearly but the other i dunno... im not saying that they were not good... its just that how can you promote something to English people if you cant speak their language cleary... it will be a barrier... and I heard some of them speak English and i can say that they really lack practice and my suggestion is practice correct English grammar and pronunciation before making any decisions...

...last point, see why did DBSK' song and Rain's song was banned??? think of it....
if you would listen to that kind of music the lyrics or Mirotic and Rainism are nothing compared with the Lyrics that most of the Pop artist at America sings... so please think first before deciding or declaring something or it would lead to a hard blow in their names...

I hope by the word 'global', the government doesn't mean the US only. If so, those bands probably stand a good chance of making some progression, because people in other countries (or at least in Australia and Singapore) certainly won't object to foreign music We love them! AND maybe they will start visiting more countries :DD
