I'm picky with JPOP, simply because some songs are a bit too "squeaky" for my taste. For that reason, I seem to lean more towards the JROCK genre.

I'm not a fan of female singers at all, but I do enjoy some male Jpop artists such as Ryohei, w-inds., Nakamura Kazuyoshi, to piece, THOROUGHBLEND, Sasuke, V6, Jesushairdo, Melon, etc.

I love Hamasaki Ayumi the most.

My playlist includes:
Hamasaki Ayumi (All albums, including NOTHING FROM NOTHING)
Otsuka Ai (LOVE Jam album and AI am BEST album)
Ueto Aya (A mixture of songs)
YUI (From Me To You album and Can't Buy My Love album)
Koda Kumi (koi no tubomi single, Best ~Bounce & Lovers~ album and a few others)
Morning Musume (Sexy 8 Beat album and few other songs)

And a few Otsuka Ai PVs but they are already on CR so I can't upload them.

Jpop is the best. But I am currently looking for some Gackts stuff...will find some soon.

When I'm in a j-pop mood (which is seldom anymore but does happen on occasion), Ayumi Hamasaki is what I usually listen to. I really enjoy KOTOKO as well. I listen to a little Nami Tamaki as well. I saw Hiro live a few years ago at Sakura-con in Seattle. It was a lot of fun, she is just too cute.

I went through a brief - as in a couple of months - j-rock phase, but I seldom if ever listen to any of it anymore. Too much good readily available western music out there to waste time digging through piles of garbage looking for gold. J-pop is unique enough it warrants the effort in my oppinion. Of course, if I was a fangirl interested in effeminate asian guys my opinion may differ.

D: Oh God, don't. It's not worth it. Spend your time getting into good artists.

:) There are lots of good Jrock bands.

That's only VK bands. Other subgenres of Jrock have bands comprised of males that actually look - and dress - like men.

I know they're out there... it's just way too much work for this gaijin to warrant the effort.
