This is purely hypothetical and I don't have any evidence to support it, so I understand if the thread is locked and I apologize. However, I have been extremely curious about this for some time and wonder if anyone else is as well.

Do you think that Ukitake's illness may have been manufactured by an enemy in order to weaken him or the Gotei 13? In particular, I'm imagining this being part of a plot on the part of Mayuri, who seems to be a really dangerous man and constantly playing around with various biological agents.

It also seems kind of peculiar to me that Unohana, the uber spiritual healer of Soul Society, isn't capable of removing a physical illness such as tuberculosis. Is it that she cant heal him, or wont?

Ukitake is possibly the strongest asset of the Gotei 13 under Yama. It makes sense for a number of enemies to want to keep him sick and weak.

JUST THINK ABOUT IT....

I think he's full of it. He's always sick in battle or when a battles pops up. He's never sick when nothing wrong.

I think maybe your right with the enemy getting him sick, but didn't he have this sickness when he was inthe academy. and maybe Unohana can't heal him because maybe he had it in the human world before he died and went to soul society, so it can't be healed in soul society, or maybe Unohana's not trying hard enough to heal him. idk...

Good topic. Yea I don't really get this either. He's dead, in soul society, and yet he's sick. Like, wtf. How would one develop an illness in soul society? And yea, you'd think that Unahona would be able to heal him as well. Idk, orihime could probably heal him somehow. Her power>>

Awww Ukitake has TB or so they say. Poor guy, he is too nice but still he is really powerful, having been Yama's first students or something like that.

All I can think of is that Ukitake died from TB..
Wich was never cured, and só after he died, he still had the illness..

Maybe that's why Unohana can't cure him, because she can only cure things that happens 'at present' if you know what I mean..

maybe it cant be cured because of it being internal, and not a real wound. And it would really help the soul society if they could fix that illness because ukitake is like the second strongest captain. so you would thinkthey would try harder to find a way to heal it
