He never died. He was born in the soul society. And I don't think his sickness can follow him to the other side.

Before Orihime left SS, Ukitake should have gotten that healing.

If you remember the trip to the beach he was sick there as well. TB doesnt always manifest with coughing up blood. That is only at the worst of times when a body is under high stress and pressure. Both of those coincidentally happen during battle. Which is a good rationale as to why he is at his worst when the big fights come and less so at other more peaceful times.

I agree with Memphis in the respect Orihime should have looked into it while she was there to see if her power of rejection could cure it. However with SS still uneasy about the new ryoka that had potentially just saved SS as well as Aizen defecting it is understandable as a possible oversight. Either way I would still love to see Ukitake at his full strength like I have said in other threads, but it doesnt look like TK will let that happen anytime soon.

yeah i think the whole he had TB and died thing could be a really good explanation for his illness in the soul society. but yea, you would think that unohana or even mayuri could think of some kind of way to cure the illness. even if possibly did have it before and/or when he died.

Ukitake is a good guy ^^. We all pray for him.

He must have died of his sickness and he's stuck with it.

love that question its a real thinker. well i think that due to the fact that either the air or something in soul society has caused the mutation of his illness into a virus that cannot be cured by division 4. i also think that he is still one of the top captains not only because he is strong but because of his wisdom. when anything and everything happens in Soul society he is the first one to investigate it, therefore he does more info gathering than combat for the soul society.
i doubt Mayuri would help someone cure their illness if there is nothing in it for him, especially if its not something extraordinary.
hopefully we would see his true strength in episodes to come.
