The backhand would have been more effective.

I don't think it really matters. "To each his own."
King can have his opinion on the books as can all the screaming Robert Pattinson fangirls (I'm certainly sure this isn't going to deter them, it'll only make them very angry).

"People are attracted by the stories, by the pace and in the case of Stephenie Meyer, it's very clear that she's writing to a whole generation of girls and opening up kind of a safe joining of love and sex in those books. It's exciting and it's thrilling and it's not particularly threatening because it's not overtly sexual."

He further explains, "A lot of the physical side of it is conveyed in things like the vampire will touch her forearm or run a hand over skin, and she just flushes all hot and cold. And for girls, that's a shorthand for all the feelings that they're not ready to deal with yet

I agree with him. Just the synopsis *(of twilight) alone makes me gag.

As much as I like the Twilight series, the King is right. She isn't one of the best writers, but its enough to keep me mildly entertained when I'm bored. & I can't stand the Harry Potter books (because wizards and so on aren't really my thing) But JK is a fantastic author to be honest... she's really talented. It's still harsh saying that Steph can't write, because she obviously can because her books wouldn't have sold so much. There isn't a particular way to have a writing style (in my opinion), because people like their books diferrent and everyone has their own tastes in books so he shouldn't have sounded so angry about it.

Maybe he's just p-d off because she practically appeared out of no where with her vampire books and sold a freck-load of them.

Twilit sucks.....want a REAL VAMPIRE story read Anne Rice........as for if a writer is good or not......that is someones opinion. The man is entitled to his opinion just as much as anybody else.... also he likes the Harry Potter books.....he was comparing the two authors against each other since they write the same genre....young adults. As for some one earlier saying being a best seller author....well all a best selling books means is someone bought the book.....not that they liked it. Most avid readers don't buy books from the best seller lists...thats more for the people who only read the book that has a lot of buzz about it. Case in point.......Jimi Hendrix NEVER had a song on the billboard top ten........that means he never had a hit song......but he is definitely better than most artists of today that have like twenty top ten songs......

Can you read? Lol, Stephen King never bitch slapped J.K Rowling. But Stephen King finally said something someone should have said a long time ago. The only reason this is a bestseller is how many teenage girls purchase this book for one reason, ROMANCE. Lmao, specifically Vampire Romance. I thought this book was wayyyy tooooo draggy and too much "mushy gushy" love was happening. Stephenie Meyer is a decent writer, a 7th grader could write this. It's just the plot thats golden.

King wrote:

According to Stephen, "Both Rowling and Meyer, they're speaking directly to young people... The real difference is that Jo Rowling is a terrific writer and Stephenie Meyer can't write worth a damn. She's not very good."

Translation: "Their books go hand-in-hand as bathroom material. I read Jo's stuff while on the crapper and I use Meyer's to wipe."

He didn't diss J.K. Rowling. He only disses the Twilight writer.

That's damn funny though.
