Hi all, i was just wondering why Isshin is so secretive. No one except Urahara and Kon knows that he's a death god (and a captain too...) and here's a few chances he had to reveal himself but didn't:

at the start, when Karin was attacked by the hollow looking for Ichigo, why didn't he save Karin? he took an awful risk of waiting for Rukia to transfer powers to Ichigo.

when grand fisher appeared in the graveyard, Ichigo almost died and it was through sheer luck that Ichigo drove it away. and he was supposed to have sworn to kill it...

when Ichigo and Ishida were surrounded by hollows, he instead let Urahara and friends save them...

when Ichigo was getting owned by Ulqouira and Yami, it was Urahara and Yoruichi who saved him.

Does he have some secret agenda or does he not want to reveal himself for some other reason?

Discuss.

He probably wants to force Ichigo to get stronger. He watches Ichigo to make sure nothing gets too bad but otherwise leaves Ichigo alone to sink or swim. We all know that regular training doesn't help Ichigo only having his friends in danger and forcing him to build up his resolve can make him grow stronger. He grew more fighting grimjaw in their third battle than in the whole time he spent training under the Vizard. It takes danger, the strain of a battle, and the need to grow stronger to protect his friends for him to improve. If Isshin had helped all those times Ichigo would be getting his butt kicked by pretty much everyone. His firs t Nel tackle/hug would have killed him.

I think Isshin wants Ichigo to die
jk jk
it's making the story more interesting..
if they reveal everything and go like *final release in the beginning*
that wouldn't be fun anymore, that's why Bleach has so many episodes
But I don't think Isshin is stronger than Ichigo

Urahara apparently gave him a gigai just like Rukia's that drains reiatsu and turns shinigami into humans. Urahara once asked Isshin how it felt to have his power back in over 20 years. My theory is that Isshin purposely had his Reiatsu drained so he could live life as a human without endangering people close to him. When Ichigo's power started to grow and flucuate when he was a kid and when he came back from soul society, Shinji said he attracted lots of hollows including Grand Fisher. So basically, I think Isshin didnt honestly regain his powers until just before Ichigo came back from Soul Society. I also think hes not involving himself in battles where theres a chance of spies or survivors so that he is trump card against Aizen and the Soul Society. Sorta of like living under the radar. As to why hes not telling anyone, I bet he just wants to make a big scene like he normally does.

Yea, I agree. If he were to constantly save Ichigo, he'd never get to the level that he needs to be at.
