Holding the play and menu buttons at the same time for about 5 seconds restarts my iPod.

Another solution would be to plug it into your computer and manage the device using Windows Media Player, iTunes, or some other music program. There should be a "Restore to Factory Settings" button that will pretty much reformat it. Hope this helps.

Did it really freeze or the screen isn't working? I think it's best that you get the iPod replaced by bringing it back to where you bought it. If you bought it from an Apple dealer I think they'll replace it. But if it just frozen then try doing these things: toggle the hold switch (which is located on the top left of the iPod) on and off repeatedly for maybe 3 to 4 times.Normally, that would work but if it doesn't work then hold the Center and Menu simultaneously until the screen turns off. You'll know that you've reset it when you see the Apple logo on the screen. Hope you get your iPod working.. mine was actually just replaced because the screen was broken... 1 month before the warranty expired..

Try putting the power charge in,
Another is holding down play and some other button at the same time for like 5 seconds - can't remember which ones
And uhm...

Turn the "hold" function on and off for several seconds (10 seconds +/-), and then press the buttons that make it turn off/on.
