disney animators dont get paid alot either, animation isnt a career you get into for the money.

disney ACTORS get paid alot because actors have union, but animators get jack.

so if disney doesnt pay well why would anime.

people who get into it do it because they love it, so it makes sence that they do it for less money.

However, American animators get paid a hell of alot more. I think read that Japanese animators make around the equivalent of $10,000? dollars a year and work ridiculous hours. I made more than $10,000 dollars in one year as an assistant manager at a rundown movie theater working about 20-30 hours a week, lol. American animators make between $30-$40 thousand a year (that might be a little high, though, i'm not sure.) Anyway, just throwing that out there. =)

If more of the stuff I wanted were available (Card captor Sakura, Only Yesterday ((*(*&*@!! Disney), Banner of the Stars III, etc), I would buy them. If more of the shows that used to be on CR were available here, people would watch them legitimately; compared to CR most of those other places have cra*** websites anyway. Links to retailers that sell anime (i.e.. Angelic Layer would have a link to Amazon) would be useful on CR (translated titles can be tricky to track down) and I think would boost sales - I prefer box sets; just as it is nice to be able to read a book, it would be nice to be able to watch an entire show (marathon style, baby). Discounts for CR users or paying for an anime membership by buying so much anime a year might be another good idea for anime companies. Heck, I'd rat out illegitimate sites if the stuff were on CR legally! The CR membership is cheap - I'd pay twice as much if it would speed up the release of all the series that used to be on CR.

And you are supporting Crunchy Roll, a website that was suppose to be helping the anime industry. But right now Crunchy Roll is hosting ads for manga scanslation sites, when scanslations are basically stealing from the Japanese media publishing industry, one of the biggest corporate sponsor for the anime industry:

Can you say oxymoron?

actually to get technical, an oxymoron is only 2 words that have opposite meanings but are used together. this my friend is a paradox... and I see your point, great irony in it. I have a membership not really to support the anime industry (though I'll admit it makes me feel good... kinda like sending a dollar to starving children knowing it won't do much, but makes you feel better), but rather because I like to watch the new animes in simulcast and in HD(lol, HD irony in that too). So however the site decides to make money, be it even hurting the industry they are supporting, doesn't bother me all too much... though at the same time the hypocrisy has to hurt their image, no?

coz animated film like shrek would take a year to produce a 1 hour and 30 minutes so it's obvious that american animators work hard and paid of well rather than japanese... american animators work on big time animated films you know...

I guess the Anime Industry needs to do something and/or at least slow it down. Consumers supporting it alone is not enough for the industry to survive.

They should mass produce manga more instead... animes are expensive and takes more skill and manpower to make.

as long as manga exist, animes won't die... rather, we won't see them mass produced. nor we won't see those tasteless shounen or shoujo animes that are made in bulk that are not even fun to watch. those kinds would rather the likes that would disappear.

Anime won't die, or at least not in this century, I would say. with this many fans all over the world there will be many ways to solve the problems in long-term.
