Jack Thompson isn't neccessarily a bad person. He's an iggnorant one though.
First off, the whole GTA thing.
The sexual stuff in GTA, if you can buy GTA. Then you're old enough to watch porn.
So there should've been nothing wrong with it.
Second, now Bully.
I love this game.
And it was a huge spit in the face to Jack.
There's not alot of bad about it.
It pretty much says the morals of shcool yard life.
"Some kids can get away with shit. Some kids can't."
And it also shows where you go if you're a bad bad kid.
Jack Thompson = Good
Iggnorance = Bad.

The fact that your 15 practically supports some of his arguments.

I hate him with all 100% of my fiery hated, he's an *****ing moron who doesn't even know what he's talking about in most cases.

I hate how he rant on about GTA being violent, GTA is far from horribly violent, and the way he target it as a "killer simulator" is laughable, since when can we auto target peoples...

FPS are a far more realistic target (not that I want them to be) and a perfect candidate for "killer simulator" would be hitman.

sorry for the rant, I really hates him and his ignorant.

Jack Thompson To Face Contempt Charge

According to a report from gaming legislation news site GamePolitics, anti-game lawyer Jack Thompson has himself come under fire from lawyers representing publisher Take-Two Interactive, who have called for Thompson to be held in contempt of court. While it remains unclear as to the exact nature of this request, it most likely stems from comments following Thompson's most recent failed attempt to prevent the recently released controversial title Bully from being sold in Florida.

Thompson had originally requested that he be provided with an advance copy of Bully in order to help determine if the game should be considered “a public nuisance” within the state of Florida, a request which he was awarded. However, a later hearing on the possible banning of the game resulted in Miami-Dade County judge Ronald Friedman handing down a decision that Bully would be allowed to be sold, explaining that the controversial title did not feature gameplay or content that warranted it from being banned from sale.

According to the report, the contempt of court request could find Thompson facing jail time, though it is more likely that “fines, judicial admonishment or censure” would result from this most recent turn of events. The report also notes that attorneys representing the Philadelphia law firm Blank-Rome have filed a “Petition for Order to Show Cause,” which requires Thompson to illustrate to a judge why he should not be held in contempt.

In an email to GamePolitics, Thompson has responded to this request, writing, “You want to play hardball…? You want to try to throw me in jail? You have no idea what you are unleashing in doing this. You’re at the brink…”

Brink of taking you down!!!!! w00t!

Politicians are lame for crashing on other people/things just so they can get re-elections.

There is NO reason, hard working game-companies should be put-down because they decided to make a game made for mature audiences. Seriously, the debate over video games is just stupid now. Parents buy the kids these games because they are willing to do so. Of couse, the content may be unknown: but that's what the labels are for.

(NOTE: Rockstar did NOT place the pornographic "objects" into the game, I have done a total check of it, and went through thousands of images just to see if they actually did. The game-modifier did that, he rendered the "objects" and edited them into the game.)

Simplified:

People. Are. Retarted.

Actually, Rockstar did put the sex scene in the game, but instead of removing it (it was right before they shipped) they just deleted every possible trigger or cheat or anything to access that particular scene. You are right though, no one could have accessed it on "accident", since it would require some hack.

But thats been going on forever. I remember getting the nude hack for max payne, tomb raider, and a bunch of other games that had "hidden" nudity. It's been going on forever so rockstar prolly just decided to leave it in like any other company would have and just hide it.

yeah, they shouldn't have kept it in there though imo

it's not like the characters are done really well to make them worthy of watching them "doing it"

and Wetto, that's not my pic just so you know.

The fact is that Video games aren't the cause of violence. Crime didn't all of a sudden rise because of the release of video games. Gangs came first and then video games came many years after. Video games have now become scapegoats for bad parenting, poor public education, and lack of security. When anyone is on a rant about how video games aren't teh cause of violence, all I hear Jack Thompson say is "Tell that to the victim's families." I'm pretty sure they blame the person who directly caused the violence over the video game. I'm sure that the families of the accused blame video games at the same time to get away with their own shit. Jack Thompson always says that their is a study from whatever and then follows by saying " a study your probably never heard about." There are no such studies. If there are, they should check their work again because the majority of the population that play video games don't commit crimes. The only real thing Jack Thompson could use is when that guy died from malnutrition after playing 49 straight hours of Starcraft.

He just wants a platform to hear his own voice and to garner political support. In the early days it was comic books so its just a natural progression. I mean those in charge feel the need to control everything because us mere mortals can be controlled by comics and games so easily, and after all they do know whats best for all of us. Not

talk about some necromancy...

But actually, here is a relevant question regarding our ol' pal Jack. Hillary Clinton has recently announced her candidacy for the Presidency. It's very likely that she will score the democratic nomination. I've become pretty disgusted with the performance of the republicans over the past two administrations (as have most people), so I was planning on voting democratic. However, Hillary is an outspoken supporter of Jack Thompson. I'm not sure I can reconcile voting for someone who supports censoring one of my most beloved passtimes. Thoughts anyone?
